Default Sacramento, CA Jag Certified mechanic to do a PPI?

Hi all,

I'm looking for a independent mechanic in Sacramento, CA that can do a PPI inspection an XK that I'm considering buying. Can anyone assist? The Jag dealership there is being slow to respond. TIA!

Try Ajag on Don Way in Carmichael. He is more restoration but knows his stuff. Or Stewart’s automotive on Stockton blvd & freeway.

don’t know Stewart’s but they are always busy

Why not use the Jaguar dealer? Call them again. They'll use the CPO 165-Point Checklist and you'll get a written report detailing measurements and the parts and labor prices of needed repairs. Will you get the same, thorough inspection from an indie as you would from a dealer? What's the difference in cost?

I called the Jaguar dealer in Sacramento today twice, but they never called me back. I thought I'd get the name of another place as a back up. I believe an indy place would be cheaper, but I'd prefer to use Jaguar just to be safe. Just need them to call me back and arrange for set up. Will try them again in the morning. Thanks for posting the check-list! You're awesome, Stuart!

Finally got in touch with someone at the Jag dealer in Sacramento. They told me it would be April 20th before they could do it, which is ridiculous. I'm assuming they just didn't want to.

My 2 cents, I use Jaguar Sacramento for my XK service. Not cheap by a long shot, but I always get a loaner without even asking. Nice people and have never been pressured to do extra work. As for their not having an opening until April 20, that sounds right. They were about a month out when I made my last appointment.

Maybe that's why the seller encouraged you to use that dealer...

Ah, that's good to know. Glad it wasn't just disinterest. I found another place that specializes in Jags, Ferraris, Lambos that had a large number of high ratings online.

Thanks for the info! Another example of why this forum is so great!

That's what I feared at first. The Jag dealership is right across the street from where the one I'm looking at is for sale. Thought maybe it might be one buddy looking out for the other. Looks like the poster above thankfully confirmed that was not the case. I feel good about the place I found even though I would have preferred a Jag dealer.

Still not a done deal yet, but inching steadily in that direction. Thanks for continuing to keep up with my journey!
