Default Scuffed Wheel // Paint Matched!

It finally happened; I brushed up against a curb yesterday with the XKR... the noise after the grinding sound was my stomach turning inside out.

So, since I'm an hour away from anyone I trust to lay a hand on my baby, I tried my hand at a temporary band-aid. I didn't lose much metal; it is more scuffed than anything, so this is simply a sand-and-paint-post. The question is: how do you match the OE silver painted wheel? I was very scientific about it. I guessed.

So, I hit the rim with 600 grit paper to to the get the ridges, then 2000 grit to smooth it all down, then rubbing compound to clean up the painted surfaces adjacent.

I applied Duplicolor® HY01800 Bright Silver K1 Hyundai. This silver is a dead-nuts match—just in case any of you with OE silver wheels need to touch up a nick or two. (Oh, my wheels are the Jupiter 19s in Hyper Silver.)

Cheers!

e

Another good match is Dupli-Color BGM0508 Ultra Silver Met. for General Motors cars. You can also buy wheel touch up kits from your dealer.

Agreed! Hey, haven't I seen your whip 'round San Jose??

That's a fine specimen; gives me dash-envy.

Dash envy, eh? You can come back anytime and take it out for a spirited drive around the bay area.

I saw a blacked out XKR-S the other day. Nasty!
