Selling my 2013 XKR

I think you made a good decision there. There will always be faster cars than what you happen to own but, the XKR is a class act in itself. Can not say the same for the GTR. It is simply a (very) fast Nissan.

Absolutely agree. I'm always willing to try different things, after all that's how I bought my first Jaguar. It's just the damn Canadian winters that I and my XKR don't like. Until I find a car with AWD that puts a big smile on my face and makes me feel as special as the XKR I'll own an XKR.

DGL, you have just experienced the difference between a Roots-type supercharger and a traditional big turbo set up. Torque off the line will always be better in a supercharger like the one in the XKR.
Test drive the Porsche Turbo S before you dismiss it, though. It will have lag, but less than the GTR-R, and its refinement will be closer to Jag than to Nissan. And it is by all accounts docile on the street but blindingly fast when you want it to be.
Still won't have the same "gentlemen's club" exclusivity feel of the XKR, though. There are trade-offs everywhere

The Jaguar C-X75 concept, the nicest looking supercar ever made, IMO, had a Williams designed 4 cylinder supercharger/turbo charger setup for this reason producing crazy hp. The supercharger will initially engage until the turbo chargers spooled up. The C-X75 also had electric motors powering the front wheel. Hey, this is an AWD setup. Maybe I should look at an C-X75? I wish! Damn shame that car wasn't produced. However, would have been out of my range.

Great news.
Insane! I never expected an AWD with the 5L SC engine. F-Type AWD 550 hp and a ton of torque with launch control = 0-60mph < 3 sec.; and, with a sophisticated electronically controlled AWD system to rival the GT-R this thing deserves serious attention.

Yes, having been owned by the far lesser powered WRX on a small track with lots of corners, I have a new appreciation for the AWD. Not that I would buy one just for the track experience, it actually wore me out and it went against my instinct to baby my car. but I can imagine it would have its advantages in the snow or the wet.

and more on the AWD f-type 2015 Jaguar F-Type AWD : Quicker, more dynamic all-paw Jag revealed
But alas, I sat in an f-type last week and I thought that the interior was a little underwhelming against the XKR though it might have been a base model.

True, though my very limited experience on a small track was that the AWD WRX got the power down so much better through the corners (where I couldn't accelerate or couldn't get grip) that for an average driver like me, AWD would get you there quicker on balance. I find that I treat the XKR very gingerly because of the tendency to lose grip, AWD would give you more latitude to mash the pedal.
I also found that with my missus AWD 5 pot turbo v40T5 CC. The normal FWD v40T5 is a tiny bit quicker but much twitchier around sweeping bends under the hammer and some torque steer whereas the AWD version is much more forgiving with no torque steer. I appreciate that FWD and RWD drive differently, but ultimately I think AWD makes it easier for someone like me with limited skills

This was a new (2014) one. The instructors at the track thought it was perfect. In the XKR I was getting times 2 - 3 seconds faster that my mate had when he drove the track car (same as your Pontiac GTO, I think set up for the track and not street legal) but he was getting times 2 to 3 seconds faster than me. His instructor thought that the harder he braked the more the weight went onto the front and the better he was able to get it through the corners, he was pretty amazed.
