Default Semi-active exhaust valve removal

Hello, is it possible to remove this semi-active valve, which means removing the spring to leave the valve always open and what would be the result?

Have someone start the car from cold whilst you stand behind it and listen, if you can remove the spring then it will sound like that all the time.

For the mechanics or the loss of power that does not risk anything?

The semi active system is not electrically controlled.

Yes. Be interesting to see how you do it. I cheated and put an XKR back box on my XK, so the valves are normally open without the vacuum required to close them.

Do I have to find a way to block the springs by cutting them out maybe?

Why are you making more work for yourself than necessary doing something that is not easily reversible by the next owner? Keep it simple and remove fuse 19. It's really easy.

Some guys have used heavy gauge wire to tie back the valves. That way it's still revertible to stock.

And does that change the behavior of the engine? Less torque for example? What are they really for? :confus:

Perhaps if you had clarified more than just saying you have a 2008 X150....most who ask this question have active valves exhaust which can be defeated by removing fuse 19....

Manually opening the valves instead of letting them open themselves by overcoming spring pressure with exhaust back pressure really only makes the exhaust tone more aggressive earlier.
It's all about the sound, mate.

Where do you put this wire on a XK back box?

OK this is only for the sound it's okay because I don't want to change the behavior of the engine

I may be mistaken but, as I recall, the active exhaust is closed at low engine speeds to increase backpressure, which maximizes low-end torque.

I've had Fuse 19 out for many years and have never felt that my XKR was lacking in low end torque. Whatever the loss may be, for me it's worth it to get the improved exhaust note.

That's what I wanted to have that changes the torque at low revs! OK
