Default Service Manual/Workshop Manual

OK, being stupid here - these are two separate documents, yes? The former (service), which I have, is available from the stickys section. As for the latter (workshop), is that the thing I need the Windows computer and the special software etc for? No such thing as a pdf?

Service manual and workshop manual are used interchangeably. They are the same thing. SDD is the software used to diagnose and modify our cars. There are some instructional PDF's on its purpose but nothing that really tells you how to use it. Also, depending on version of SDD, it serves several hundred Jags and Land Rovers. It is old and archaic but does the job.

If you only want to diagnose all systems on your car (engine, chassis, Body) you can get an Auto HP200 for about $60 on amazon. It will do that and also give you live data while driving, clear all codes, point you in the right direction for repairs. You can also do a couple of small resets, like seat adjustments but you can't program anything.

Thanks. My confusion arose because the document "X150 5.0 Service Manual - VIN B32753 to VIN B44939.pdf" - a.k.a the Service Manual - makes repeated references to "the workshop manual", for example

"For a detailed description of the suspension system, refer to the relevant Description and Operation section of the workshop manual."

as if there's another document.

Thanks for the link - interesting. It seems at first glance to be the same content as the service manual.

I suppose what I'm really pining for is exploded diagrams...

You might be able to find the exploded diagrams you need (1) in the manuals available in the Stickies at the top of this Forum, or (2) by going to online OEM Jaguar parts vendors and searching for the parts or parts that you're working on.
