Unfortunately I didn't get my 1990 Vanden Plas out this summer, too busy playing with my other toy ('79 Fiat Spider), and Covid limited my travel. Hopefully, not much damage will occur after sitting for 2 yrs. Its totally enclosed in a Zip up tarp. No maintainer, but I do have Stabil in the tank. I'm due to replace my suspension bushings anyway, so no harm done there. Btw, this car sat for years before I bought it, so 2 yrs is a piece of cake for this puppy. What's your take?

Btw, maybe you guys know this already, but I was told that placing several sheets of Bounce fabric softener throughout the vehicle incl. engine bay will deter rodents. Over the years I've never had those issues, so maybe it works.

Mine sits for 5-6 months over the winter and haven’t had any flat spotting, as I raise the tire pressure to within 5 pounds of the max relating, so about 47 pounds in my 52 pound max rated tires. Park on plywood squares to keep them off the concrete, battery maintainer connected, and that’s about it (haven’t had any mice around since the coyotes and hawks patrol the neighborhood).

Great job. For me the best convertible driving season is just about to start. We have daily 93 F in Dubai now. The best season is between November and April. During the summer time, 120 F is too much for convertible driving.

Mine will sit for the next 6 months, usually see's sunlight near the middle of April. Cold storage and covered with a battery tender running, washed and waxed yesterday, dryer sheets in the trunk, under the hood and in the cockpit,, staybil in the gas tank about 7/8 full. Car is locked..
How long are others put away and do you do anything different ?

my xkr in garage since March, needs custom bumper work, no shops open, so she sits with tender, I start her up every few weeks. 2020 really sucks, lol.

I'm in the UK. We don't generally get bad winters any more, so I keep my car garaged but 'available' throughout the winter, for the occasional cold, sunny, dry day when it can go for a ride. There are usually enough of those to make it worthwhile. Car is on a CTEK all the time regardless. I won't take the car out if they have salted the roads though, or in ice or snow (to avoid someone sliding into me as has happened once before to one of my 911s).

I have my trusty X-Type for daily use and the AWD comes in handy where I live (hilly area) when conditions are bad. X-Type is perfect for my 'daily' needs - great aircon, great heater, heated seats, comfortable and all-wheel drive. Terrific car for the winters we get here.

We took the XJS out for one last run up to Maine last Sunday, we were out for well over 8 hours. Now she's tucked away safe and warm in the garage, under cover with a float charger on the battery. She'll stay there until early May, weather-dependent. I do take her out once a month through the winter and drive her around the block a few times, provided it's sunny out and the roads are bone-dry. I'll add the dryer sheets now, recently heard about doing that, thanks.

A friend of mine who owns a pristine 1979 Porsche Turbo Carrera told me to use Bounce fabric softener sheets to deter rodents, I've been doing it now for about 12 yrs., and its always worked, have you heard about Bounce?

vandenplas90, I believe that's what people also refer to as dryer sheets. Lots of mentions on the forum...

Thanks Bill, I get it now, "dryer" sheets. Off topic, I just saw the new Netflix movie "Rebecca", there was a 1940 MG profiled in the movie that literally made my jaw drop, what an awesome looking machine! I have to hand it to the British, their styles are unique, nearly all of them have "Classic" written all over them. Check it out if ever have a chance to see the movie, which I recommend btw. Cheerio there good fellow.

Main difference I do is disconnect the battery, no need for a tender as it then holds the charge. May boost it once during the winter, and yes inflate the tires.

Hey, as long as I can do this in shorts and a T-shirt and stay comfortable, I'm fine with it.

For me winter is nice to do repair projects. My gsxr and x150 are getting new coolant hoses everywhere. I also play video games which i don't do most of the year; but it's relaxing during winter. I'm seeing someone who Is fixing up a 3000gt vr4 and might be doing work on that too.

She's tucked away but as long as there's no snow or salt buildup on the streets I'll go out for a spin. Keep it on a Ctek all year round to maintain the battery.

Default Solar battery charger

Thanks!
Try any boating store like WestMarine.com, Defender.com ... most cruising sailors use solar & wind chargers.
