Ok so I finally could not take it anymore and I had to replace the mast antenna from 1985. I took a chance and brought my 2007 XK to a local shop near me and they installed a stubby antenna that makes the car look much more modern and it works like a charm!!

I might be missing something but the old mast was an automatic one right? My 08 does not have (it has a shrk fin) it but all of my other Jags do have this...it retracts back when the car was off...right?

@Gdrag, yes it was. On the 08's they got rid of the power mast antenna. The 07's however still have them. It was about 4 feet long and in my opinion only, it took away from the looks of such a beautiful car.

I think the reason that the antenna was changed after 07 was because it was a design fault.

If you have a convertible and the top is down at about 90km/h it makes a whistling sound. I have spent 3 years trying to get Jaguar to rectify the problem but the response I get is "...it is what it is..." not very helpful!

I take the fuse out that operates the antenna and it stays down, problem is: no radio only CDs.

Someone has asked where the fuse is...

Hi

The fuse is located behind the rear seat.

There is a seat panel between the two rear seats above the arm rest. This panel needs to be grasped firmly with a hand each side of the panel and pulled towards the font of the car. This action unclips the panel but does not fully release it. Once it is unclipped you need to slide it towards the roof. Once this is done the panel will release into your hands, Pay attention to how you release it as it goes back the same way.

The fuse is #4 which is red 10 amp fuse. Once you remove this fuse the antenna will stop working.

Have fun in your Jag...

The antenna delete kit does exist - I was told I would need part C2P16200XXX ($665) and C2P17367 ($190),

As I understand it, C2P16200XXX is a new spoiler with the integrated antenna, and C2P17367 is the wiring harness to basically extend the old antenna wiring to the new one.

On top of the parts pricing, you'd have to add in about $100 to paint the new spoiler and probably 4-5 hours labor to get it installed. The interesting thing is that from everything I can tell, there is no "cap". The old mast antenna still stays in place, it just will not rise any more.

For now, I've just pulled the fuse as davies describes, I rarely use AM/FM anyway.

Sorry to dig up an old thread but I wanted to view the pictures attached by "Dasani17" but I get a "you do not have permission to access this page" error.

Does anyone know why this is?

Thanks,
Graham.

The long antenna makes no sense to me given the beautiful lines of the car. I might understand if the AM/FM SQ was stellar, but its not. To me, it seemed it wasn't that the radio couldn't receive FM stations, it just didn't do it very well. I suspect that the 2007 uses a diversity antenna and the FM performance issue was due to the antenna, not the radio. I'm not sure that a shorty antenna is going to address the SQ issue, but others will know better.

Rather than disconnect the antenna fuse, the dealer recommended disconnecting the power to the antenna by accessing it behind the trunk interior panel. (Sorry I don't have the details of the operation) Result: Beautiful looking car, antenna never extends, and i still hear FM with poor sound quality. Anyway, when I'm not listening to the engine, I'm listening to sat or CD.

I might have to look into this; the antenna is so tall it strikes the roof of the underground garage at home. This was not the case in my 97 XJ6! I listen to satellite radio in the car 99% of the time anyway, but it is wired into the FM. We'll see what my dealership says...

So even with the 4 foot whip antenna, the radio reception is bad?

Hi, can you send the pics of the stubby attenia to sigfam1@aol.com. I cant retrieve the pics from your post.

I have sirus, so I might just remove the fuse as others have.

Thanks in advance
