Should oil change only be done by dealer?
#41
Okay then for temperature range, but is that AMBIENT temperature, or ENGINE temperatures??? As in, other than initial starting climates, why would climate range even matter??? My climate is between 0F and 100F like 99% of the time. Every viscosity would pretty much work regardless.

For climates ranging from -35°C to +50°C (-31°F to +122°F), the following oil viscosities may be used:
0W-30 protects from -35°C to +35°C (-31°F to +95°F).
5W-30 protects from -30°C to +35°C (-22°F to +95°F).
0W-40 protects from -35°C to +50°C (-31°F to +122°F).

Should oil change only be done by dealer? Acquired a 2007 XK convertible last year. It will be ready for an oil change in a few months. Would it be OK to go to an oil change place and have them put in Mobil 1 or fully synthetic Castrol, or do I really need to go to the dealer for special Jaguar oil? Thanks

I changed the oil in my 2011 XK convertible today, using a kit that included 8 liters of Ravenol 5w20 and a Mahle filter. I have a vacuum extractor and the special wrench for the oil filter housing, and the whole thing took about 15 minutes. I only had to try seven or eight times to reset the service indicator. So far, the Earth seems to be continuing to rotate as usual. 😏
