Default So, my sweet 2010 XKR is worth $16,000! Say whaaaa?

Just sharing info I got from a consignment lot yesterday!.
After looking over the Jag, and digging on his computer, the sales manager comes back and says he would love to have it on his lot, and in fact would be put in the showroom.
That's great, but what can I sell it for? He sets down a printed sheet showing the KBB trade-in value at $13,000. lol He tells me that he cant give solid figures, because he could find no car like this within 1000 miles, and there was no history of selling prices at auction.
His recommendation.... $16,000 is about what you could get on our lot...
I know Jaguars will not get top dollar, but that figure stunned me!

I'm off to Tacoma next to talk with Jaguar and a few lots around them....

What a depressing start!

Wow, 16K. You should be able to sell on here or BAT for a little more than that.

Vince I would sell the 4.2 NA by the simple logic that it is significantly lesser car and at $10k the least loss.

You can do better than that with a little effort:

I'm not panicking yet, but it was a shock. Of course, I live in a very blue collar community. Pickup trucks and Hondas sell well here!

My decision to sell the XKR is two fold. First is that I need to get out from under the payments, and the second is that my financial status is in the tank, so I cannot afford to upgrade the chain tensioner system, and I certainly cant afford losing the engine. In my opinion. this is a ticking time bomb I want out from under.
If Jaguar could only step up and do the right thing rather than leaving us 2010-2012 owners holding our peckers and thousand dollar repair bills... I would think on it more.

Selling the XK will not pay off my balance owed, but parting with the XKR will let me care for the XK with a few upgrades

Regardless, I've always been on the fence with the XKR. Having the XK for side by side drives, reminds me how much nicer the ride is in the XK. I still smile while driving her, and the only thing I really surrender is the horsepower and the brakes (and payments).
Makes me mad that I cannot swap the 19" rims between them thou!

Vince

Sadly, cargurus doesn't show what they actually sell for.... That is very different from asking price.

Keep us posted. I'm also in the PNW, bought my XKR up in Bellingham last year for 20K.

I probably paid too much, but as you know, they rarely pop up for sale.

61K miles.... his sheet actually subtracted $900 from the cars value for the mileage!

I got a lot to do before turning her loose. I brought all the best from the XK over to her, now I need to swap it all back!
Steering wheel is one, but you need the "Jaguar" airbag removal tool, problem is I cant find mine after 3 years!
Focal speakers have to come out, Headlights get swapped back, Gotta pull the side markers off and put the blanks back in. Will put the stock shift knob back in and offer the one I have to a couple friends...

Stuff like that....

Yeah I pretty much knew that. When I got serious about what I wanted to hear, he simply said "I cant sell it here for that, but thanks for giving us a chance".

that guy is wrong or dishonest. I have auction data access and there are 8 transactions for 2010 XKR coupe this year. Average mileage 58k with average wholesale cost $17,850. Estimated retail shows on Mannheim is $23,400, Typical Range $20,400 -$26,300.

realize he was giving a # that he felt comfortable paying you, as he needs to sell for profit. and if he sells retail then he also needs warranty the car for at least 30 days probably, so he needs cover his risk. a dealer will never pay what a private buyer will as they need to turn it back for profit sale.

A consignment lot CleverName said, which means the dealer gets a percentage of the sale?

There is a line of how long it sells vs price which results in profit/time.
