Not to hi-jack this thread (see what I did there...?), Some companies here in NYC are telling their employees to "dress down" so as not to become attractive targets to ne'er-do-wells.
Brave New World...
I do like the idea of a "panic button" which could shut the car off after a few blocks.

So if the bad guys are driving off and you have the fob in your pocket.....double press the lock button and wait for the fun to happen?

Well there you go. So sorry, glad/hope your ok! Gotta be an empty feeling watching it drive away. I used to fly into Ontario and hop over the mountains for World Dairy Expo in Tulare CA every October. Had a gun stuck in my face at a gas station outside the Airport one year. Didn't like it one bit.

The "double lock" feature is disabled on North American market models because it disables the inside door handles and prevents a child or anyone else from opening the door and getting out. That's a safety hazard according to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). On North American models, when you press the lock button the second time you will hear a "beep-beep" from the sounder, which is an error message and not a confirmation that your car is double-locked.

You meaning like using a radio scanner at an Italian rest stop? Don't use the fob to lock/unlock.

Wonder if it can be re-enabled in SDD?

Wont the car shut down after it loses signal from FOB?
I know my previous Mustang did,, I would always forget when I would valet the car
and it would shut down and alarm would sound when they tried to drive away to park it.
(I never put key in car, always in my pocket)

Once signal is lost you only get the "smart key not found" on the dash however all functions still work , so technically the car can be driven until it runs out of fuel or is switched off .

No, the red Start/Stop button is on the left (driver's) side. This is on the right (passenger) side, over the original black ASL switch.

If I recall, I remember seeing this in another thread and I believe he put it on the ASL button because he doesn't really use it, and doesn't want anyone pressing it! Although I can see someone pressing it 'just to see'! I want one too!

Deal! Ill take two. One for both cars and throw in a Missile one for good measure.

BTW, I think it was you who mentioned they use an old Ipod nano to listen to music. Dug out my old 6th Gen Nano, loaded up some new tunes and works perfect!
