Default Spoiler Light Problem

OK, I had the larger spoiler put on my 13 XKR. I hooked all the wiring back as directed. Does the spoiler light work when the driving lights are on or only when the brake lights are on? Any help?

Thanks

Joe

It’s a third high vis stop light only.

Excuse me but I know I have been to college for 13 years with two degrees but what does " third high vis stop light only" mean. Thanks

People are idiots, and don’t notice that the traffic ahead of them is stopped, or can’t differentiate between a taillight and brake light intensity, and slam into stopped cars, the government mandated that a 3rd brake light be mounted higher up and be highly visible.
That’s what the light in your spoiler is, a high mounted, high visibility brake light.

Joe, you asked if it was a brake light or operated with the driving lights and I provided the answer, it’s only a brake light. I’m not certain what more you expect it to do.

EDIT: Also congratulations on 13 years of university and two degrees, but no idea what that has to do with your question….

CHMSL

It's a Center High Mount Stop Lamp
Mandated by the Feds since I think 1986??? Forty five years and I'd think it'd be common knowledge by now.

I used to be in the auto lamp business and that is exactly what we called it, a CHMSL.

And yes, all cars for Canada and the US have had these stop lamps since the 1986 model year.
