Default Supercharger Isolator

Hi Gang,

Just had the oil changed yesterday, at a Jaguar specialty shop. They mentioned that my Supercharger Isolator is making noise. They want to replace some parts.

They also mentioned that my vacuum pump was leaking. I was surprised that it would have developed a leak. Total cost of repairs is $2,600 CND plus tax (13%).

Thoughts?

That's £1,480 GBP/$1950 USD

If the coupler is rattling I've been quoted £1108 inc VAT to have mine replaced and I'll be providing them with the SC oil and powerhouse SS pulley

So your quote sounds a little pricey, but any decent shop will give you a written quote, Here's mine attached

Good point.s MT Morgan. They provided me with an email. No formal quote. I’ve asked them for a part breakdown. What’s the Supercharger Kit?

I have been using two shops for my Jag maintenance. One is a Jaguar Dealer and the other a shop focusing on British cars, with a lot of Jaguar experience (roughly 30 years). The dealer tends to be about 20% higher than the shop. The quote came from the shop, not the dealer.

More to come.

supercharger kit would be , New isolation and new belt plus new oil . i would hope . Ask around man . Money is tight and takes time and hard work to get , and will get worse so get bang for your buck . narrow it down use reviews /Testimonials from garages before trusting

No George, on my quote belt and oil are broken down separately:

if you google the part code it comes up with the front end kit

https://www.brit-car.co.uk/product.p..._2010_on______

As you can see my Indy is using OEM kit (which is reassuring) am not quite sure why it should be £40 dearer than the link above.

Tomorrow I'm going to try my dealer as get 15% off, which should take it down less than £300+VAT for that part

Thanks George and MT Morgan. Not to ask a stupid question, how do you know if your supercharger needs to be worked on. What is the isolator?

Will check to see which vacuum pump.

You should hear a chattering noise under load.

You can't hear it when driving and needs the bonnet up on a rolling road. Mine was first identified when I took it to be dyno'd.

When ot becomes worse you may be able to hear it when driving.

Right, I've just gotten back from Main dealer,

Ordering the parts from them with my 15% discount came out at £75 cheaper Ex VAT £90 inc VAT, so an 8% saving on the total bill, so not to be sneezed at. So have ordered and will get my Indy to fit when servicing time comes around.

Important note the Kit Supercharger has been superseded and the new code is now C2D58056, I am unsure what improvements have been made...if indeed any?

Looks like you're getting a new snout as well, not just the isolator?

Correct, a whole new snout as well.

Now just have to budget for the powerhouse SS smaller upper pulley and Evans waterless coolant on top, so another £500

So had best start saving my pennies, once done hopefully my car will be fine for another 50k miles

No problems and am sure it'll carry on running without the fix.

Only been married twice but learnt last Month that ex has applied for half my pension....first hearing 18th August. If it goes her way I'll probs just sell the Jag.

Default Difference btw c2d38554 and C2D58056 and isolator issues

Hi,

I have a couple of questions about questions regarding supercharger repair kits. Firstly my XKR 2013 0.5 started to have this rattling noise and once it was opened we found the isolator damaged and chisel marks on the shaft. I was advised to buy a new core as the shaft is damaged and the tension isolator is also damaged. No other damage observed.

I'm planning to ship the parts from the US to Oman, where I'm currently based. Im wondering what is the difference btw C2D38554 and C2D58056, the latter is the kit recommended by the dealers, would c2d38554 fit? What improvements were done on the core, if any?

The other question relates to the marks on the shaft, I'm thinking of changing the isolator with a solid aftermarket one, which I was told doesn't sit on the shaft. Do I still need to change the shaft or the core in this case?

Thank you in advance.

Use 5056 as recommended by your dealer...why would you use anyrhing else?

Also the helpful chap in post 5 gives the full kit list and part numbers

Hi Mark. I was going to buy a rebuilt core on a C2D38554, C2D58056 isn't available 2nd hand.
Do you know what is the difference between the two kits?
