I've been mapping out the pinouts in excel (I don't have Visio) using the harness and comparing t the the PDF somenavyguy provided and there are a couple discrepancies I've noted below:
This should read "AND RECEIVED D2", not D4 Because this is the pinout on D:
Also, this is a question:
Shouldn't B14 say "CONNECT TO RXD" and
B15 "CONNECT TO TXD"?
The Chinese writing simply says "Connect to Host".
Any help on that second question you be appreciated

I believe the image is correct:
one end transmits (TX) and the other end receives (RX)
and vice versa.
At least that is the case with computer serial communication.
Oh shoot, too late to edit post #44 - there's an error I corrected. The green plug on the aftermarket doesn't have a yellow (battery power) so deleted from drawing. I'll see if Graham will delete post 44. It has no impact on anything, just know there's no power fed to that green plug on the Android side. Sorry fellas.
Great Information I have an 04 xj8 and I was wondering does this tesla style upgrade apply to my model? it seems that everyone who chimed in has later model cats, please advise. My car is currently on the west coast in Cali and this upgrade would complete my project ,please advise

I did a search and wasn't able to find a version for your model year.
Funny thing, a friend has a custom shop and he’s had more and more of these for various makes come through the shop recently. Says they’re often an integration nightmare.

I believe it. Remember Kurt and Peter's initial install? I've been asked by a few people to install the aftermarkets in their various cars and my first question is "are you sure?" They aren't replacement head units so much as alternatives. I've looked into one for Audi and one for Lincoln. I don't recall the third. They are plug and play but without any instructions.
We know someone has to take the lead and the rest of us build off their backs.
Once the first person documents the install, we can speed up the process.
Then the "bug" reports come in. Bugs to some are not to others, so after I explain to them that they may lose functions that they have while gaining functions they say they want, all three have decided against it.
I like the set up personally but always looking at new opportunities. I don't miss much from the OEM though.
Does anyone know if this head unit has a screen lock? I haven't been able to find one in any of the menu options yet. I'm only asking because if/when I have work done on my car I wouldn't want anyone going into my settings or accounts and messing with things. Any thoughts? Maybe a different launcher? TIA
Never heard of any screen lock on any vehicle units ever. The screen lock would be the car key. Maybe enter Valet mode? Not on this thing though. No valet mode.
Thanks Cee Jay. I don’t know of a head unit that has a screen lock either. I guess I’ll just logout of my Google account whenever I put the car in the shop. If I find another option I’ll post a response in this thread.

You could install a hidden button, just cut the cable that powers the unit a extend it to where you hide it!:-)
Just ended up a retrofit of an OEM rear camera to a Tesla screen.
Unfortunately I did not make a beautiful picture documentation. However I'm happy to help if anyone is about to do the same.
One side note. I have MY10 - so camera was completely new thing to a car. I used mainly Chinese harness (on a lower part of a picture) and used only 4 wires out of an original camera harness. Picture below.
So 2 wires for vision ("connected below") and red for power and black/transparent for ground.
Simple, plug and play once wires connected.
FYI - there is a setting for mirror rear view in device settings. Needed to have a properly working camera and a steering thing (these yellow / green lines).
