Congratulations Rodney!

That dealership certainly does have some gorgeous cars in the lot and you bought the best looking one. I'm confident you'll get at least as much enjoyment from it as you did from the Jag.

Best regards,

I am gonna try and make it to the British thing happening in Alpharetta this Saturday that Hammish was talking about. If you are up that way look for my car and we will talk.
Wish I could make it, but we're having our granddaughter's 3rd birthday party at our house on Saturday. If you go (weather forecast is for rain), please take lots of pix and share them with us. Should be a great variety of nice British cars. I hope the weather forecast is wrong.

Stuart - I suspect you are right about the rain. 70% chance so I think it will definitely happen.

Been driving the DBS since yesterday afternoon.

And guess what? 09 AM's came with Sirius Sat Radio - FOR LIFE!!!! I never have to pay for it. I was gonna sign up after I got the car, but now I don't have to pay that ~$150 a year. That may pay for a couple weeks of gas...

After putting a little over 100 miles on it, I will have to say that while it is classified as a GT, it is no way a GT...in my opinion it is a sports car.

To compare the XKR and the DBS:

The XKR is Pierce Brosnan and those style Bond movies.

The DBS is Daniel Craig and the new style Bond movies.

I can't get around in traffic because everybody is slowing down beside me.

I am using my new AM umbrella this morning though...

PM me next time you plan to take it back in to the dealer. I'm 5 minutes away.

Will do...they owe me a tow hook cover. I will be going up there to get it in a week or so.

Uh oh... does this mean that your car had to be towed? I'd like to know why that cover was removed. Hopefully, nothing serious.

Well, it had a front license plate holder on it. I had them remove it, and the license plate holder bolts into a threaded receptacle behind the bumper. When the license plate holder is not on a small round cover goes over it to hide the threaded receptacle.

I said tow hook cover, I should have said "front license plate threaded receptacle cover".

Had me concerned, but no longer. Glad it wasn't a big deal.

so whats the monthly cost of the AM .. (or does it not visit the garage as often as my XK?)... I was looking into a DB9 conv.. but apart from the initial pricey cost.. I don't want to spend more than on my XK '07 conv..

This all apart from the whole Wife discussions that need to follow

Not quite sure I understand what you are asking...are you saying your 07 convertible needs repairs often?

I have the service/repair history on my DBS. It did have a new clutch installed a few months ago, but has not had any other issues. The clutch issue was not a big deal after I found out why it was replaced.

Oil changes, filter changes, just normal stuff.

As they did with Jag, Ford paid for a new factory for Aston that updated quality and technology quite a bit. Aston incorporated all this, with Ford's requirements for increased reliability testing, into their way of hand building cars.

Since then Aston has increased its quality and designs tremendously, just as Jaguar has.

I'd suggest thoroughly researching the vehicle you are interested in buying. As long as it has been properly maintained you shouldn't have to worry.

I don't know how often often is.. but every 8000km its in the garage for normal maintenance.. in the last 6 months or so..
Rear Brakes
Rod somewhere something
Left front headlight
New roof (my choice)
Front Brakes

Cooling system
minor stuff

all in all worth about 5k USD total..

Still to do: Pedestrian sensor.. worth about another 1200USD
