They are essentially two separate cooling systems joined by a balancing pipe mainly used when you refill coolant. The lower opening thermostat will not gain you anything.

That is why I have an additional charge cooler radiator with two 6" fans that I set to come on at the temperature I dictate as well as an upgraded charge cooler pump.
A far bigger issue with the 4.2 SC engine is the fact that oil vapor from the sump thru the high load breather will cause clogging of the charge coolers after about 50k miles. Not so on the 5.0 as that engine has far better oil management.
Where did you put the extra charge cooler? Id be interested in that and a better pump.

I am currently replacing the hoses under the blower so ill clean the oil residue off the heat exchangers. I can see theres an oil residue on the fins.

Pm me the details on the tune please!!

The above is a pic of the in series additional charge cooler radiator with two 6" fans. They come on before the main fan comes on. When all three fans are running there is
quite a volume of air moving thru the engine bay to say the least.

The water/meth system I have is simply to help clean everything as well help lower the charge temp. I do not have a tune to take advantage of it. Pre 2006 cars are much more difficult and problematic getting a tune plus not having VVT limits the scope of such a tune.

Space to install all of this was problematic. I did away with my cabin filter to install the water/meth pump and reservoir.

Will try to get some figures when I have the car "operational". Currently have the trunk D2B cabling in a mess which is a whole other thread.https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...l-unit-219878/ not relevant to this thread.

I would be happy with the fan to start spinning at lower temp.
How can that be tuned?

A fan blowing through a radiator that is sealed off from flow would only cool that fluid too much so the engine has to deal with a larger variance when coolant DOES flow. It would make "normal operating temp" into a sine wave.

Typical temp in motion is 92C. While in traffic it reaches 98c and after fan starting will go as low as 95c before natural flow comes back.
Alternatively, i would like the fan to start earlier so in traffic the temp will vary 95 to 92 instead of 98 to 95

Would that make sense to you?

For the tune I would send you the equipment to read your original file and after read you would email it
To me. I then modify your file and send back to you to load into your car
I would suggest a performance tune as well, you will be in for a treat as the torque
That is gained on our cars with the tune is eye opening.

Now back to the lower temp thermostat , once we set lower fan temperature start point to get full benefit, a lower temp thermostat by maybe 10degress would make this all work together great.

I agree! Programming the fans for lower turn on is vital.

My other car is a Hellcat and they put a lot of thought into reducing underhood temps and the massive intercoolers (they even replaced the fogs with coolers like the STR!)

ive wanted to try the Killer Chiller on mine like they do on the Demon. That really gets your iat down

Default AJ811788 lower temperature available

So an update:
After a long search, trial and error with various thermostats to find a fitment. I now have a perfectly fitting insert with 10 degree lower opening temperature. This unit will be a direct replacement insert ,so no modifications will be needed. Original part # that this will replace is AJ811788 which will fit numerous 4.2 jaguar engines

Will be offering this thermostat as a package most likely, haven't yet decided. In combination with a tune with added option for lower temperature fan temperature start.
