Thermostat Housing Replacement thanks

Just finished replacing my MY06 NA convertible thermostat housing after some minor overheating. I had roaring fans but not even a orange warning light. Thanks to all the posters who have contributed to the many treads that allowed me to diagnose the issue and fit the replacement housing and thermostat. It was the crumbling plastic lug in the cover with the broken pipe inside the plastic housing as the root cause.
Thanks again to this wonderfull helpfull forum, I am back on the road.

I have heard ( really: read ) that a thermostat housing of a Land Rover will fit, and is made of metal.
As I was then ordering spare parts for my 2007 XK Convertible, I asked for that.
The guy there said, yes, and that he has it. So I just ordered it. Have unpacked and checked packing list, but never did compare it to the thermostat housing IN the XK.
If anything in there faills, I will give all parts to the mechanic, and ask him to check.
It was not expensive. Very reasonable.
If the first part of the cooling hoses/system fails, I´ll have everything replaced at once.

You must not have kept up on Steve’s postings. He replaced a 4.2 L with a 4.4 L. Search this forum, you’ll find pictures and everything.

Would you have the reference for your Aluminium piece? What engine/model of Range does it fit on?
What Jaguar X150 will it fit?
Thanks.

X150 4.2 xkr aluminium housing
X150 4.2 xk plastic housing (these are the ones that disintegrate)
RR 2005-2009 4.4l plastic housing (as above these disintegrate and the whole unit needs to be replaced )
Hope this helps

Never worried about the argument of "cheap" plastic. Yes they fail. We've all read about it here. Mine is @ 84,000 miles and is 17 years old and there's the rub. I will swap out the housing, stat and prolly some hoses next 5 year service due which is in 2 years. I know the techs here recommend changing them out during scheduled maintenance so I'll follow their lead. @panthera999 , one of the techs (can't recall) recently responded to the same question. His reply, buy the OEM from SNG Barrett, and he was OK with the non OEM that they sold as well.
