Default Thermostat swap

Any last advice before I dive into the thermostat housing replacement tomorrow? I have read the threads on the forum a couple of times but most are older, any new advice/knowledge is welcomed.

I replaced the thermostat and the water pump when I was 100,000 km, but I have no idea how many kilometers to replace the thermostat body. I did not do it.
Anyway I would like to find a metal replacement.
You know if the metal replacement is sold

No. The replacement thermostat housings are plastic only and should be changed with the coolant flush per every tech on this site (every 5 years) or certainly if you're changing the stat anyway.

Trying Google Translate as well:

No. Las carcasas de repuesto del termostato son solo de plástico y deben cambiarse con el líquido refrigerante por cada técnico en este sitio (cada 5 años) o, ciertamente, si está cambiando la estadística de todos modos.

Well today was a bust, hoses are locked on hard, will get new hoses on the way to replace as well. I now understand why everyone says it’s a good idea to go ahead and get new hoses.

Yes. You have a 14 year old plastic thermostat housing in your engine bay. They don't last forever and you got your money's worth off of the first one. Swap it out when you do the job. I't only another $100 or so.

The water outlet, which includes the thermostat, on the XKR is metal.

My mistake. I thought this was one asked and answered as plastic. Thx for the correction.

If you're looking for a more fail-proof thermostat without the rubber that goes bad, also can have them in factory or reduced temperatures.
Pm me
I'm referring to the 3-piece thermostat that's common on 4.2 cars

But if that case is not metal, what changes to prevent it from being damaged?

I was seriously considering making a crap-ton of milled aluminum thermostat housings for the 4.2 to sell to all you guys. Can't now, lost my access to a mill.

Hopefully AlexJag found a single piece T-stat. The factory one requires the plastic housing to hold the spring pressure and that's why the tabs fails, especially if it ever overheats...

Ahh my bad I misunderstood then. I was only dealing with xkr with sc so they all have aluminum housings, but thermostat which is the three piece design , the insert has rubber around it and this is one of the failure points . The one I have eliminates the rubber all together , only metal is used on the insert I have .

They already make an aluminum thermostat crossover housing for the NA version, but for the Land Rover Range Rover 4.4L engine. Part #'s LR005767, LR002454, & LR003524 respectively. Try searching eBay. (PS: same part is on the Aston Martin V8 Vantage, but at an Aston Martin markup price)

I tried to translate it as accurately as possible into Spanish and used TheWordPoint service from this review https://pickwriters.com/official-translation-services for this:

No. Las carcasas de repuesto del termostato son solo de plástico y deben cambiarse con el líquido refrigerante por cada técnico en este sitio (cada 5 años) o, ciertamente, si está cambiando la estadística de todos modos.
Thanks for the translation and for the information, I did not know that when replacing, a flushing is needed for each tech.

Can you clarify this please Panthro? Are you confirming that the part numbers above fit the XK N/A 4.2L? Assume that's what you're saying but you know what happens when we assume.

You say you know where to get a lower temperature thermostat for the xk 4.2?
I would appreciate it if you could tell me where to buy it, in Spain I only find the original thermostat and I prefer to install a lower temperature one.
