Thinking of buying a 2010 - 2012 XKR Convertible
I'm thinking about buying a 2010 - 2012 XKR convertible. The prices seem to range about $20,000. I've searched through these posts and haven't found any differences between these years other than the upgraded headlights in 2012.
Are there other differences I've missed?
From what I've read, these cars are pretty reliable, yes? Should I buy a newer car so it still has a factory warranty? With a newer car, I'd be spending a lot more and have faster depreciation. Just wanting to make the best decision...
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Buy any . . .
2010-2012 XKR Convertibles are pretty standard across the line (except for the XKR-S & the XKR175) and the headlights. Not a big deal to me vs. the MUCH LARGER depreciation one must accept. There is a thread here about putting LED's on earlier XKR's but the big benefit is the 5.0; tires/wheels can always be interchanged very easily (especially if you avoid $20K in depreciation, a $3-$5K wheel upgrade is a winner); backup camera is nice but it's not a 50ft Winnebago.
If you buy one, you'll enjoy it. Price differential can be great but usually there are many CPO's that a Dealer wants to move. Be patient, know what combo you want and you'll most likely find it. Just a note though, if you want a convertible, move quickly grasshopper as their prices will firm and rise as the summer approaches.
The important need to me was the CPO warranty to 100K. If nothing fails in 1-2 years and 20K miles, you're in good shape.
Jagtoes list idea is a good one whenever doing any shopping.

Basically same car, one with led headlights and rear camera, one without. One with huge depreciation, one with a lot less. A good extended warranty (Easy Care/Total Care) can calm any concerns for warranty issues. If you get a well maintained low mileage 2010 you will never know the difference other than the extra money you have saved.

I traded my 2011 XKR 175 with 5,000 miles for a new 2013 XKR. I wanted the new LED headlights, backup camera, dynamic pack and performance exhaust in black. The 175 is a standard XKR with only a body kit and no performance enhancements, unlike the european 75. Also, I was looking for the right deal. Everything fell in order and the deal was done quickly. If I were looking for a new XKR today I would want, a convertible, dynamic pack, performance exhaust, performance quilted seat black version.
The Jaguar XK line is exceptional and you can't go wrong with a 2010-on model.
Look at what the models/years have to offer. Decide what you want to spend and then go shopping. Always remember you, the buyer, are in complete control of the purchase transaction. If you don't like something always know you can walk away and another deal is around the corner. Be patient and smart. Good luck and happy shopping. Be sure to let us know what you decide on.

Hi Danny,
I went on a quest to find my dream XKR, lasted 4 months, found my 2011 convertible on cars.com from the dealership that originally sold her and then took her back in as a trade in. She was in Connecticut and I'm in Texas, bought her sight unseen, but she had all of my requirements and when the transport drove up with her, I knew I made a good decision. She is everything I wanted and more, love love love my car and it makes my day just to be able to get in and drive her to work. All I can say is I agree with making a list of your must haves and then start your search. It will be totally worth it. Best of Luck!!
