Seems like things are quieting down a lot in my car. I used to hear a sort of squealing belt sound, which may have been some sort of supercharger bearing and/or pulley somewhere. The screen lockouts don't really happen often anymore--usually it happens if I've washed the car (left the doors open for an hour or more) or if I haven't driven the car in a few days.
The lazy downshift issue is pretty repeatable, however.

I just picked up my MT5-49/H8. I made the mistake of deciding to walk to the battery shop and carry it back to my office one block away. I didn't think it was possible for this battery to be HEAVIER than the MTP-49/H8 it replaced, but it is 6.2 lbs heavier at 58.2 lbs!

At least that's a great excuse for not going to the gym!!!

Haven't installed the new battery yet. All other problems are unresolved, although the "whirring sound" is getting better, and the power steering noise seems much quieter now in general. I still have a squeaking sound in the wheel when turning it--dealer says something is loose in the airbag. I tend to agree, because trying to grease the interface between the wheel/steering column didn't help with the noise.

As it turns out, I didn't get charged anything for diagnostics. However, their "diagnostics" didn't turn up with anything.
I had a Jag tech from this forum send me a list of Select Edition covered parts (a secret list, PM me if you want me to email it to you). Sure enough, SRS and safety belt items are not on the list.

I just replaced the battery with a MT5-49/H8 AGM battery. Installation went very smoothly this time (I've had practice).
However, one strange issue I've noticed with the new battery that existed with my old battery is that if you turn the seat warmers on and you shut the car off (and even lock it and get out and get back in) and then start the car again, the seat warmers are still on. Is this normal???

One other bizarre thing I've noticed--the car seems to drive straighter. I was beginning to think my alignment was whacked as I seemingly had to keep steering to the right to go straight. However, after changing the battery, it feels like the suspension is a little tighter and it drives straighter.
I could be completely crazy, of course. But is it possible a weak battery was messing up my suspension?

Most definitely not normal... <<this statement was in error<<
As for the battery affecting steering? Now I'm starting to think your crazy....![Icon Denk](https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_denk.gif)
Keep in mind you did tighten your strut tower nuts a while back and may be feeling some change there?
My Lexus had "electronic" assisted steering, and I swore it occasional "twitched" the wheel to the right via an erroneous signal at odd times. I researched the daylights out of this and could find no supporting proof, so it just added to yet another reason I got rid of the car. (The Jag is tried and true hydraulics...)

Notice how the screen flickers on and off when I start the car. Does yours do this? I would appreciate it if you guys could try the same things and let me know if this is indeed unusual.
My friend was telling me that his seat warmers will stay on in his new VW if he restarts his car within a couple minutes of shutting it off.

Is this some sort of starter protection for the car?

I got the car to make the noise this morning again. It seems to be influenced if I am coming to a stop.
