Yes, there will be slight resistance with the rubber seal but they slide out quite nicely.

Thanks can you remember if it was only a couple of bolts on the front edge?

It's easy to have the entire rear quarter glass done completely if you have Steve's Remote Control Top with the Quarter Window option. No, no help for Coupes, but who'd want a coupe anyway when there are convertibles?

Did it a few years back but I think you are correct. Definitely on the front side of the window. If I recall correctly, it was simply remove the 2 (I beleive) bolts on the front, by the rubber seals and tug rear glass straight forward. My car is at my in laws right now as I'm sprucing up the garage, other wise I would go and check to refresh my memory.

From memory there is only one bolt. You pull down the rubber seal and then you will see the metal frame at the bottom with a bolt in it. Take out that bolt and the glass should slide out. I dropped the bolt inside the car skin, but once the glass slides in it fits very snugly, and doesnt need the bolt.

Drive your car around with back windows out for a few days while the tint cures if you can. You get triple the engine noise into the car - it is a crying shame that the windows are fixed in the coupe because we miss out on most of the noisy goodness of the car.

I tinted my windows in the summer months and drove around for a couple of days with front windows down and no rear windows in place. The look was pretty cool. Car actually looked sportier IMO.

The back windows are hard to tint, because the edge is embedded in the rubber, so the choice is either to bury the tint up into the rubber (which is hard to do and can take some later repair work) or trim it around so that you have a clear glass border (which is easier but doesnt look so good). The car looks awesome tinted, especially since the interior is charcoal which makes the tint darker. I got darkest legal, but I live on the Gold Coast so you need it.
Bruce didn't realise you lived in the Gold Coast

I was up there two weeks ago and stumbled upon this black xk parked up on Murlong Crescent

Another tip for those with the coupe.
Make sure ALL your rear window defrost elements are working before tinting.
My XK has 3 dead lines, and no way to repair without removing the tint.

Just an FYI.............

Nice part of town, and lovely looking car. Dont see many of them on the coast, but they really catch your eye when you do.

I know this was a while ago but for anyone still reading - yes, I get this exact glare at night as well (as does the one other person I've met who also has an XK vert with tint). Took me a few weeks but I'm used to it. Don't even notice it now.
