Default AS3 vs As4 vs Continental DWS 06 Plus

Torrential rain is a factor here and I appreciate the security of all-season performance tires.
I have an 07 XKR convertible with AS3’s. I live in upstate NY so summer only tires aren’t an option, my garage isn’t heated. Summer tires can’t be stored below freezing according to the tire manufacturers. So talking all season tires, my AS3’s are a bit noisy and stiff, this could be due to age, 6yrs old. I’m concerned that the AS4 would also be a bit noisy and not give a nice ride. I’m considering the DWS 06 Plus because I’ve heard they are comfortable, quite, handle extremely well and are more available then the AS4. Your thoughts about the difference between AS3 and AS4, please.

Cheers.
Could be wrong, both my local Jag dealers sell and supply the Hankook. My CPO car had those new when I bought it from the Jag dealer so figured it was factory or they wouldn't go that route? Regardless they have been very good for me.

Yes a popular and quality budget tyre choice. Had a set at the recommendation of the main dealer and they were adequate though not awfully long lasting or as quiet as some premium brands.

Apologies, I’ll be clearer. Hancook’s are not supplied by the factory.

I have had AS3. I do have AS4 on 19’s. (And 4S on 20s. And Alpin 5 on 18.) And I’m not that far from you @Stucciarello .
Truly,I had a similar experience. As the AS3 aged , they no longer provided the grip I demand. The AS4 on the other hand are newer of course, but significantly better.

The AS4s on my XFR are extremely quiet. And as for handling, I found even the AS3 to be sufficient on that car. I might consider an ultra-high performance tire on my XK, but I value safety and comfort in my sedans.

Well, there are so many good choices in the high performance, all season category.
Potenza RE980, ExtremeContact DWS06, Pilot Sport All Season 4, P Zero All Season Plus are all exceptional tires.

Pull the trigger already.

I've always used Hankook since my Michelin PSS flew apart and tried to kill me. (Michelin never again. EVAR). Regardless, I do believe I will try the CONTIs next time around. Solely because of the accolades in this forum.

ORDERED THE TIRES. Thanks for all the feedback. I’ve decided to go with the Continental Extreme Contact tires from TIRE RACK. I also ordered 4 new Siemens OEM TPMS from TPMSBARGAINS.COM They we’re 62.00 US each compared to 99.00 US each from Jaguar.
Thanks again,
Bill

Good call replacing the sensors. I always do with new rubber as well.

My AS3s were also six years old, and the AS4s are significantly quieter and more comfortable, even at high speeds. Handling is stable and predictable.

Well, of course they are.
Get new tires, they are better. You can't compare old used worn out tires that you replaced to the new tires you just got. I guess you CAN compare them, but not to any directness of equality.

Cee Jay, I’m sorry if my response seemed simplistic to you. I was responding to a previous question about the AS3s vs. the AS4s. My tires were not “old and worn out.” I hit a pothole and damaged the right front, and since they had 2016 date codes, I replaced all four. This car only has 33k miles so I’m guessing the AS3s might have had only 16k miles on them. However, having owned five Jaguars, and many other cars over the past 4o+ years, on which I’ve replaced many sets of tires, I believe the AS4s are among the quietest I’ve had to date. Thanks.
