I had a similar problem and the fix was I had phone charger wiring runing along side TPMS Module unshielded. So I canged the location of the hard wiring using shielded wires and no more TPMS warning

When tire shops do the "TPMS REBUILD SERVICE", all they do is replace the air core and the valve cap. Those are the only two user serviceable parts.

Glad to hear the "over inflation trick" worked. I learned of it on the Forum. Good place to pick up knowledge.

A month ago, I replaced my TPMS sensors with pre programmed Continantal VDO sensors.
Tires were checked after installation with a reader which indicated they are sending their 315mhz signal properly and have good battery voltage.
Continental bought VDO brand from Siemens a few years ago. My VDO instruction sheet made no mention of either Siemens or Continental. All the literature referred only to VDO.
My new preprogrammmed sensors relearned their position in only 5 miles at highway speed.
No more Check tire pressure warning that day and not the next 2 days.
Then it started again, randomly selecting various tires at various times. Some days the system works fine, others, not so much. Possibly ambient temperature has some effect as it seems worse on hot days, however I cannot confirm this with any certainty.
The increased tire pressure to 40 psi has not helped.
As CeeJay mentioned in post 16, his "clear warning" trick works for me but only for 10 to 20 minutes.
IanXF mentioned in post 21 a possible non shielded wire problem near the TPMS module. Since these sytems work using radio frequencies, perhaps he is on to something.
I will shield the wires that are near the module to see if that works for me.

Where is the tpms module located? I need to check wiring shielding also.

The TPMS receiver is there also, a little 1-1/2" x 2" x 1/2" black squarish box, velcroed on.... top??? I think?

I was actually going to ask about the receiver. For the 4.2 it says its burried under the whole center console, but not sure exactly where. Seems like a pain to get to.

I've had a TPMS fault show up also... when I ran a power/usb wire from the back through the center console similar to IanXF. Removed the wires and never saw that warning again.

Now my "Low pressure" warning keeps showing up randomly. I monitored all 4 tire pressure on my iCarsoft and they just completely drop off. From ~300kPa to 101 kPa (which is just atmospheric pressure). Then back to normal, then on to the next tire.

I am convinced this is a module or receiver failure as I highly doubt all 4 sensors and transmitters are failing intermittently.

Sounds like typical federally mandated fun… it was the local Discount Tire store’s manager who told me ‘I don’t care if they cost three times as much go to JLR’ in reference to the $60 units they sell. Our car is a bit over 7 years old without a problem (yet) in this apparently very problematic system. I was planning on new sensors going into the new wheels and tires but who knows, maybe even thinking too much about TPMS will cause it to fail…
Personally I think it more than a little ridiculous how many things the feds require on a car. Anything other than air quality items should be MY choice.
Sadly, fewer and fewer things in life, the the great USA anyway, are actually our choice.
Uh oh, I almost strayed over that thin line into political discussion.

On the 4.2, the module is actually behind the Aux Junction box so you have to remove the seat back, then the the Aux Junction bracket (3 nuts I think) then it's behind it. The Receiver as Cee Jay says is the smaller unit and easier to access back there.

This week I had all 4 sensors replaced at Discount Tire. Paid $200 total including sales tax. Unfortunately, the first set they installed were the 433mz sensors which don't work. They replaced them with the 315mz sensors and they work great. Only took about 5 miles before the system recognized the sensors. All is good at a great price.

Where the heck would they get the 433s anyway? Nobody in the USA needs them.

My Discount Tire guy told me 433 was used for systems that told you exactly which tire was low while the 315s are used for a singular notification that doesn’t specify location. Three days ago JLR needed the last six of the VIN to know what my car wants, apparently there was some change between ‘13 and ‘14, verified with the recommended 53004 application list ending with 2013. Doesn’t seem to matter that ours is a late ‘13 build. Then yesterday a different parts guy at the same dealership told me he needed to know if it was 315 or 433, but had never heard of the differentiating info I was told at TR. Back to TR and it’s 315. Same JLR guy can’t tell me the VDO number, only the JLR p/n. When asked how we know if it’s new or six years old he had no answer.
Best of all, he admitted to me as troublesome as this system, obviously added on for USA bound cars, is, the techs there recommend leaving the original ones in, no matter how old, until they fail! The literal meaning of FUF - Forget Until Failure… All I know is if someone would write a couple lines of code disabling this abortion of a system and spec it for off road use only, they’d be very wealthy. Only problem here, JLR is so low in units sold stateside compared to the big guys, the technology might never trickle down to our little guppy pond.

first guy may have learned that by example and generalized it without having seen a counterexample.

edit: here's the last thread i remember about TPMS with some additional info on that https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ensors-241304/
