When I first bought the car new, I was a little obsessed with how to protect and maintain the car for the long run. I was working for an ad agency that represented JLR at the time (which is how I as able to get the car at a reasonable to-me price). The company reps I met with, and the service experts in the UK they had me call, all said you should never leave it top down at all. According to them, the top will stay in much better and tighter condition over the long run, while also avoiding creases keeping it up whenever it's parked. I have followed that advice since then. Logically, this approach makes sense to me. Plus, as others mentioned, keep out the dust.

So, in order to not increase the frizzies, I tend to leave the top down during the summer.

The top is still as new. Very minor creasing if you look for it. At the time I asked them if I should do a convertible top treatment and they said 'Absolutely Not!'. So it's just been washed over the years with no special treatments and still looks great.

I park my car outside and generally leave the top down for several days at a time. JUST KIDDING!!
In the summer months, my top is down more often than not. But it can get brisk here at night in Seattle even in the summer so if I’m driving at night, I may raise the top. If that’s the case, I just leave it up until I drive it again. But it’s definitely down more than it is up in the garage during the warm weather.

not much chance of getting the top down alot here
