Ok guys and gals I going to put a plug in for the guys at Jagsport repairs in Edmonton Alberta, if you have been following my dilemma with my 07 xk, you will remember after a boost to start my car smoke started coming out of one of the three units stacked beside the battery so I unplugged all of them and the smoke stopped. The battery was about five years old so I replaced it, after everything was said and done I noticed my touch screen wasn't working?? After some comments on here that didn't really help I called around and found a shop in Edmonton. The receptionist was very nice and helpful. She took all my info and the problem I was having. The tech called and suggested I put in this connector thingy in the fiber optics connection and that would eliminate the nav system which is what I thought the problem was. There are two of these connections one on the nav-cd box and one on the bottom box (one is for the phone one for sirius radio and one for nav) I'm not sure which is which except the middle one is nav unit because that's were the cd's are installed. After trying each of these I still had no touch screen! I sent an email to Jagsport saying I would leave it as I am tied up with other things right now and I would look at it later. I get a call this morning from them and the tech wanted to walk me through and help if he could. After trying a few things he determined that two or maybe all three of the units were fried so he had me removed the gizmo that they sent me (I'm about three hours away from them) and install it at the connection that feeds all three units. He had me remove the centre hump between the rear seats then remove a plastic piece about three inches long from the rear of the armrest. As you can see in the pic I have plugged it in and this has rerouted the "beam" back to the touch screen, at least this is my laymans theory of what happens anyway screen lite up and everything is good to go. He also said they might have the three units in a wreck that he can sell me to get my phone, radio and nav back up and running. I hope this helps someone if they ever have a problem like mine. I have the gizmo connected
Very good, glad you got it fixed and that is a very good shop that is willing to help you through the problem on the phone and not simply say bring it in and we'll take a look at it.
