Also worth noting even “new” batteries off the shelf may not be fully charged. If you haven’t a proper charger many suppliers will place the new battery on charge for you. Batteries also have date codes so it’s worth checking those as well, one have sat for some time on a shelf or warehouse is likely less charged than one only a month old.

Another point to consider as these vehicles age, the vehicles charging and alternator may no longer be providing full current output. For example nearly 18 months ago one of my late model Land Rovers began having bizarre electrical issues. New battery fitted and multiple full charges etc made no difference. After I carefully analyzed the alternator, I replaced it and all problems ceased.

LOL, @jahummer ! The one vehicle I have that eats more batteries than my xkr…. is the LR!

And that 35 yo volvo marine diesel I have gets almost 8 years out of a battery…. of course those are deep cycle batteries.

Isn't the voltage drop test under load exactly how you test a car battery? Having the ignition on puts quite a load on the battery, not as much as cranking, but I would expect to see a voltage drop.

To load test in the car, you've got to run the starter without starting the car, for the X150 this can be done by pressing throttle and brake pedals simultaneously. IF the battery drops below 11 or 10 volts, it's time to bin it.

I agree. You should see some voltage drop as some power is drawn from the battery with just the ignition is on.

Hi all,

I spent hours & hours trying to resolve my 'No Screen' issue to no avail. Despite contrary advice I purchased a used screen from an XF and connected that up - BINGO, works perfect and has remained so (only difference between the XK & XF screens are two small metal tabs on the side, which are not necessary for fitment in the XK (they simply allow unit to be screwed into plastic frame). Make sure you get the unit from a car of same vintage because there were some changes (my car is a 2010/11 XKR). Good luck (XF screens are VERY cheap secondhand, unlike XK ones !).

I was going to say something but you beat me to it...

Also, didn't you once mention a specialist service for these? Samsung panels?

Nope, I am the winner!
I don't actually READ other peoples' posts. Just the first one and then mine.

Yep - then in that case, you win. No arguing with that logic.

Just to update you all and thank you for your help. I bit the bullet and bought a replacement screen. Wasn’t cheap but plugged it straight in and all is working great again!

thanks all for your help!

if anyone is after a partial working touchscreen (at least you can change all settings/operate the stereo, climate etc), maybe better than a completely kaput one where none of that is possible, please drop me a pm. I’d like to recoup some cost if possible!
