Suggest you be more specific as to the kind of problem you are having with the TPMS system. How old are the tire sensors? The batteries are only good for 7 - 9 years. Sometimes a wire running behind the front bumper gets severed or crimped. Other times the module goes bad. You will get more help here if you can be more specific. as to what the symptoms are. Also there are several threads on this forum dealing with the TPMS. Do a search or two utilizing the search box in the upper right corner of this thread.

As ralphwg said, do a search of this forum.
Siemens VDO work well, and no you don’t need them programmed, your car will learn the codes on its own with a short drive.

The message is “Tyre Pressure Sytem Fault” . I am ‘assuming’ battery failure on one or more units - any local tire shop can check these but only certain ones can program, thanks

Your forum profile shows Jaguar X-Type 2004. Are you contributing to the discussion in this thread or asking a question?

A good tyre place will have a scanner that can check the state of the battery in each one as 'point and shoot'.

I bought 5 oem jag/lr ines for my 14 plate a while back for my car when was considering fitting winter tyres on vilcan rims.

I think I paid £25 each inc delivery, part no for my car is

GX631A159AA 422 MhZ (USA uses 315 MhZ)

Prestige jaguar parts have the 315MhZ ones for £30

At that sort of price am wondering why you bought aftermarket? Albeit new from my dealer they'll be around £75 each!

As has been said a short drive and the new OEM sensors qill automatically relearn and pair

My car states TPMS Fault. I changed first all four tire sensors. No good.
Changed all four initiators, still no good.
Checked for pinched wires right front bumper, no problem.
Replaced and reprogrammed TPMS module, no good.
Replaced and reprogrammed TPMS receiver, no good.
Checked all wiring I could get to, all checked good.
I still have TPMS System Fault.

My first port of call will be the point and shoot method you mention

i talk about non oem because the local tire (tyre) shops here are not able to program the Jagwire (jaguar) system

If i could spend the dollar equivalent of thirty quid per sensor , have them fitted and be done then sign me up ( no programming required is new to me)
I’m trying to establish the facts, called a few places here and its sure bring it round we can fix it - oh bugger its a Jag we can’t

You updated your Public Profile and it now shows that you have a 2009 XKR Portfolio. Congrats on making a good choice!

You should run - not walk - from any tire shop that tells you that they're not able to program the JaguarTPMS sensors. There is nothing to program! Just use the proper 315 MHz sensors and drive.

Rock Auto sell a variety of sensors from different manufacturers at different prices. I'd buy the 315 MHz VDO/Continental sensor for $42.79 that replaced the Siemens.

The biggest mistake sensor buyers make is to buy the cheapest one. It's cheap for a reason, usually because it's several years old and the battery is on its last legs.

Cee Jay -

I also have this fault, ever since I changed my sensors a year ago. It comes in and out, but it is mostly on. I have not done all the things you have done to fix mine, I have basically just lived with it. Have you had any other ideas?

Yep, I have a permanent fix planned!
Next time I have SDD hooked up I will disable TPMS entirely.

I had exactly the same situation after swapping to non oem tpms sensors. Issue was fixed after getting oem sensors installed in all wheels.

Sounds like it likely is the problem since it happened at the same time.

Interesting fact - Today I went to visit the dealership (first time - I hate going to the dealership) because I wanted to have my thermostat housing replaced, after attempting it myself and being defeated. They told me:

1. They won't install parts not supplied by them. (which is typical)
2. They won't work on anything older than 10 years!

Really?

For all that I know, if you have correct tpms sensors, there is no need at all to do any programming. Just install and drive them, they will calibrate after approx. 15 Minutes.

But after a lot of trouble with non oem sensors that never really worked (system failure... message on and off), I decided to have the official dealer put new sensors.
