Default Trusted Indie Shops in USA

Not sure if this has been done before but are people happy enough with their indie shop to give them a shoutout? Not wanting to drag any bad stories in here for obvious reasons....but if you were done right with a great price, fast service, great workmanship and hopefully all 3.... wouldn't it be great to get the word out? As one can imagine I have quite a few stories contrary to this experience. I have even thought about taking my jag to Car Wizard in Kansas cause he loves jags and seems to be on the up and up for repairs. Just wondering what people think about their indie jag specialists in their areas of the US. As far as Ohio I'm all ears....not a whole lot to recommend here so far.

Getting negative reviews is a whole lot easier.

The only shop I trust is my own.

It is a great idea; to create a list of independent shops with good reputation

thanks Rick… but…. I think this will be hard to do. So far not on recommendation in US!

If anyone is in Ohio PM me if you want to know experiences so far - they have been far from good… some SHOCKING…won’t put company names up here or what happened.

There are 82 cities of over 5 million people in the US, so listing decent shops would be a HUGE thread. Drop the population down to 100,000 or more, and it goes to 336 cities. That's a LOT of possible shops. I have a really good indie, and my population is 32,000.

I only know of one indie that works on Jags near me - he's supposedly good - I didn't like his attitude after getting an oil change which was very expensive. I didn't go back after that.

With the rate of responses, we might be lucky if there’s one recommendation per state. I don’t have any to recommend. So who’s your good one in UT?

I don't know about UTAH, per se, but the one near me I'll continue to use is IMPORT AUTO CLINIC in Layton, Utah. Just over the border from Kaysville, but this place is a metropolis with like twenty four cities along Interstate 15 for 97 miles, both north and south of Salt Lake City. Not a lot of people live elsewhere.

I’ll play…Dougherty Automotive in West Chester, PA. I’ve been using them for more than 30 years. They are the most knowledgeable independent able to service cars like ours.

They did all my tie rod ends, alignment, supercharger oil, rear diff fluid and a couple other items. Done in 2 days under $1,500. Very easy to work with. 2007 XKR convertible.

From my limited experience, West Palm to Fort Lauderdale the indies are no cheaper than the dealer and are either sloppy, lacking a full bag of knowledge, or both.

that is a very good point. Seen many indie’s charge the same as the dealerships = CRAP

I have stopped in there in the past. I was impressed by the good service. So in a bind, I’d head there again. But my local shop is exceptional. The problem with that, they are always booking at least 2 weeks out.

Highly recommend JFM Motorcars in West Palm Beach. https://jfmmotorcars.com/ (561) 629-5705
The owner Enrique is a master Jag and Ferrari tech and their team knows our vehicles inside and out.

Sach's Automotive The Jaguar Experts — Jacksonville, FL

It was my first experience with them, albeit I had to get my engine replaced (somewhat of my own accord; story for another time...) but the knowledge that the team possess reassured me that I left my car in good hands. They have reasonably priced parts and are even transparent in showing where they are sourced. Notwithstanding, I've never taken my car to be serviced by a JLR dealer so I can't speak to their labor costs.

I would gladly list a Jaguar knowledgeable shop, if I had one near me, north of Philly.
