Question Undertray C2P25395

- Has anyone applied this (XKR-S GT) Undertray (C2P25395) to their XK (X150)? I'm thinking about buying it to streamline my '11 XK's underside, but not sure if it'll be too complicated to modify (if @ all).
- It's a $1,400 part.
- I'm pretty familiar w/ my car's existing undertrays. But, I'm not sure if this goes *in lieu of* them or *in addition to (aft of)* them.
- Of course, local JLR dealer is of *no* help w/ models older than 5 yrs. old...naturally. 'So unlike Lexus...'
- And please--before anyone decides to proselytize, "Well, why would you want to do that anyway; it's unnecessary, yota, yota, yota...?", please spare me (and your time)--my reasons are my own. Thanks.

Get a big sheet of aluminum and just screw it up in places.

Would not pay 1,4K usd for a piece of plastic. Especially that I would not even notice a change...

I believe it helps with air stream underneath a car. Are you really going 120+ mph most of a time?

Bear in mind XKRS GT has a different front splitter and height. Not sure if it anyhow helps you with a standard front bumper.

Looks like it will cover the cooling fins on the transmission pan - which would increase transmission fluid temps.

i wouldn't do that for $1400, but i might try it for $140. it's a used part which would probably require modifications.

as far as the complications i don't think you should worry about that but maybe you're thinking of something i can't imagine. whether you decide to buy this or fabricate one, you can get under there with a selection of bolts and/or a thread pitch gauge ($10 or $20) for an idea of how it will attach. note which holes bottom out and at what depth. pick one to use with a stud or a starter bolt, for indexing the plate correctly. gather up a collection of washers or plastic stand-offs, get some middle-strength threadlocker (loctite blue), and you're good to go. if you have to do any fabrication, buy some posterboard, tape it together into a huge sheet, and start punching holes. you can make cutouts on the template as many times as you like in all the wrong places, eventually you'll have the pattern you want for the final piece. not complicated at all.

Good thought gkubrak. I think that's what the rectangular opening is for.

I have a friend with an older Lamborghini that did exactly what Cee Jay suggests. Took the time and effort to improve aerodynamics, cut outs for cooling, fluid drains and maintenance, And organized into specific parts to ease the effort of maintenance on larger jobs. Also, to assist with rigidity, includes aluminum strengthening L beams riveted on and It is fantastic.

So much so that I’m tired of the wobbly worn plastic under there and am contemplating the same.

It was a casual multi weekend job. At the fraction of the price of your quote.

Am just trying to get my head around this thread.

The first pic us if your exusting from shield, the 2nd diagram is one from an XK-RS GT which seems to be smaller, narrower and therefore lighter but made of the same stuff.

The bolt holes will presumably be the same uness they changed them in the GT

Now all you need to do is find someone with a GT that'll take there's off so you can fabricate one for yourself
