pk144,
You don't really expect to get a great bargain from Hornburg, do you? And outside of the rear view camera, the diamond quilted sport seats (which by the way, don't come with the cooling function), and the smaller headlights, just how does this car differ from yours? When I went looking about 3 years ago, for a companion to my 2002 XKR 'vert (with 160,000 miles), I wanted a coupe (so that it was something different than what I had), I wanted a 5L car (so it had to be 2010+), and it had to be cheap (relatively speaking). I checked ads from all across the country, and the cheapest 2010XKR coupe I could find was right in my own city. I went to see it, drove it, and was completely UNDERWHELMED! It had 68K miles, and it felt like a pig. I put it out of my mind, and continued to enjoy my 2002. After about a month, the owner called me and inquired why I hadn't really followed up on the car, and I told him I had been very busy with work (which was true), but I also just didn't feel the car was very responsive (especially for a 510hp one). He asked me if he could bring it to my mechanic so that he could check it out and then maybe we could make a deal. I humored him, but had really decided against it. What happened then was that my mechanic plugged in to see if there were any codes (faulty cam sensor), but said the cam sensor was the least of the problems. He could hear from the sound of the engine that it was about to throw a rod or rod bearing. After the seller recovered from his initial shock, he realized that he had purchased an after market car warranty, called them and they paid my mechanic (after a few weeks) to install a nearly new motor (5000 miles out of a wrecked car). After it was installed and I took it for a spin, I was happy to buy my XKR for what the seller still owed the bank,
for $38K. It was a completely different car with the new engine. Soon after, I started modding it to what I wanted, body and engine wise and voila. I keep cars forever and not for investment, so I wasn't concerned with matching numbers. I've enjoyed it for the last 3 years, drive it everyday, track it a couple of times a year, and have fun.

On the matter of 19"s vs 20"s I tend to think that the issue isnt the wheel in the XKR, it is the seat. The seats are firm and then loosen up gradually. I was amazed at how good the ride was in mine (on 20"s) but my wife was not as impressed. A stint in the passenger seat taught me that the drivers seat - with 40,000km of **** under it's belt - was supple and absorbed the bumps. The passenger seat - with only occasional **** - was quite firm and you felt the bumps in it.

The f type is the same, with 8,000km on it the ride for the driver is already much better than that for a passenger.

Oh and PS: I'm with mosesbotbol. Give me 19" wheels (I've got 20's) any day of the week.
That is a beautiful XKR. If you want a nearly brand new car at a steep discount then that is for you! Both time and mileage play into the depreciation formula, I typically lock into vehicles that are 3 years old. The main reason is that they are usually leased and when the turned in cars hit the market I have a good selection of low mileage, well cared for cars. Plus it seems the first three years have the highest rate of depreciation.

For example, here is the list of all XKR Convertible transactions in Manheim this year for 2010 through 2015 model year cars, note that for the 2013 model year transactions are ALL from lease turn in which is what I always expect to see in 2016 for high-end cars originally put into service in 2013. Previous years it is a smattering of lease and regular sale types

Good site! Never heard of Manheim.

Yesterday I finally test drove an F-Type Base. Wow that thing was fast like a rocket, felt more heavy in the steering and solid in the body than the XK/XKR, and it sounded damn good even in the Base form. I can see it's definitely for the younger crowd. The lack of usable storage and claustrophobic interior mean I will not be buying one new or used.

Manheim is the dealer auction, those transaction prices are the wholesale cost. Expect those cars were introduced to the market at higher retail sale price.
