This 2017 F-Type R with only 4,400 miles is for sale on the Forum Marketplace because it has a blown engine. It was extensively modified by the original owner in Miami and it appears that warranty coverage was denied because of an aftermarket pulley and tune.
Anyone know the identity of the tuner and details of what happened? No reply from the owner.

I understand the issue is excessive oil use which can result in catastrophic engine damage if the oil level is allowed to get too low.
I had a 2010 XFR for a couple of years (with an XKR-S tune put on it by you & Cambo) and I currently have a 2014 F-Type V6S that I have owned for the last three years, and neither car has ever used any oil. And I mean zero measurable, the oil level read-out has never varied from "max". Also I have always used 5W-20 oil and never used 0W-20, and I change the oil and filter every six months which for me works out around 3,000 miles.
I use 5W-20 because it is a lot cheaper here than 0W-20 and it's a "hot climate" here where it often gets to 110 F but rarely drops below 32 F.
Should I keep using 5W-20 or switch to 0W-20 or would that make no difference to the issue in question?
What about oil and filter changes, does changing every 3,000 or so miles help or make no difference?
Like many here I would like to know exactly what the inbuilt JLR flaw is but I understand if you don't want to make it public.

Meanwhile back to my thread, I adjusted my signature...sadly the limit on characters has caused me to truncate quite a few modifications the car...to reflect the "at the wheels" increase. Per DynoJet/WinPep 8, the differential between stock baseline and Old Jaguar re-map increase at the wheels was over 50 horse power and the torque increase at the wheels was over 90. I don't know what that translates to in crank numbers but regardless VAP's tune managed no more than a rear wheel differential increase of 25 HP and 40 TQ over baseline which was a lot less than was promised prior to purchase.
EDIT: I meant to mention I have another JLR vehicle with the 5.0 litre supercharged 500+ stock HP motor and the 4.2 re-mapped car feels pretty damn near as powerful. For comparison, flashing back to the base factory map makes the car feel like the 2008 N/A 4.2 X150 I had!

Hey Nick, do you have any advice or tips on simple steps owners can take to minimise the risk of this issue occurring?

I prefer 0w20 castrol (especially since im still running on an original, older style tensioners) and maximum oil service interval of 6000km.
