Default ventilated seats

1. For those with ventilated 2010 and later XK seats, how does the amount of cooling compare with other cars, such as 2009+ SL550, Cadillac 2010+ CTS, BMW 2012+ 6 series?
2. Reading some conflicting info. Are all 2010 XK ventilated seats thermoelectrically cooled, or do some just push air?
3. thanks. narrowing down my search and will probably buy a 2010 or 2011 XK. Slight possibility I will go with one of the other choices.

You know, I have never tried to find out how the seats are actually cooled, but in my 2010 I cannot keep the cooling on the highest level...it freezes my *** off. But yes there is positive air flow as well...

It works very well...

According to my 2010 XK brochure the active ventilated front seats are an option on the XK, standard on XK Portfolio and XKR. Normally on long drives I always get the back sweat going, not anymore! LOVE this feature. Been using it every time I drive in the 2 months I've had my XK!

Would like to know the cooling process as well.
My Lexus was forced air, and borderline worthless. Anywhere your body touched the seat, you blocked off the airflow. so all you got was a (seriously) cold crotch.

I don't have a definitive answer, but the spec says "Active ventilated front seats - heated and cooled" (my emphasis). I don't think they could claim them to be "cooled" if there was no cooling element; they would just be ventilated. They certainly work OK, though so far I've only used them up to an external temp of 28˚C; car was much hotter than that inside, as it had been sitting in the sun, so the seat cooling was most welcome.

I guess the ultimate test would be: is there a cooling system in the parts diagrams? Anyone out there with a service manual?

There is an actual cooling system in the seats per my Jag dealer. As opposed to other models mentioned where the system is merely blowing air up your keester.

They work great. Yes, it is cooled air from the A/C system and flows fine. Would never have another car without them--that's why I didn't go for the Sport seats--they are heated only and a $4K option. Go figure.

I would assume that the seats in the XK work in the same way as the XJ and XF, i.e. using the Peltier effect not air from the A/C?

That would make more sense. I just know they work very well.
