Default Ventilated seats - Filter maintenance

Dear all,

anybody here already did the maintenance work cleaning the filters of the ventilated (heated/cooled) front seats in an XK? Are these filters easy to access and how many are there on each seat?

Yes - pretty easy, just raise front of your seat to highest setting and look underneath and you will see the filter, one per seat. Remove filter by turning anticlockwise to remove, see white round filter in pic below.


These can be replaced by a Motorcraft filter, see ebay motorcraft filter, or search for supplier ARAGO a87383r

That's the seat BOTTOM filter. The filter for the BACK REST is directly on the back of the seat.

Is this filter to protect the fan mechanism from dust or is it to protect you from your own odors?

If its just the fan mechanism, I would simply blow it out with compressed air or wash it if its foam.

I am sure K&N makes a filter for it, I dont wanna know.

yes just give it a gentle hand wash and leave to dry

I was wondering the same thing. Are both of the filters the same? I feel like I read a thread somewhere that the seat-back filters are charcoal and need replacing now and then. And something about get them at a Lincoln dealer because they're cheaper?

Has anyone found where the seat back filter is located? I just had a look without success!

Edit: Just found this link.

The seat base and back are a very different filter. Same fitting size, but the seat back is far more coarse - you see through it clearly.

Far as I ever knew, the only 'filter' part for the seat back was the screen. Just to keep bugs and stuff out of the fan.

We all know that the seat BOTTOM sure could use as much freshness as possible though.

I get the feeling that each seat has two identical filters, which is fairly logical, I guess.

Yes. The under seat filter is a white, fibre, fibre. The seat back is a very coarse black filter.

I didn't take a picture of the under seat one, but can after the weekend..

Am grateful my supersports seats don't have ventilation...two less filters to change!
