VIN Code
On the Jaguar Vehicle Identification Number System X150 (2007 - 2014) the VIN Body Code for a Portfolio Convertible = 46. The VIN Body Code on my 2008 XXR Portfolio is 44 = 2 Door Convertible.
Does anyone know why this is? Could it be related to the Market code? Mine is W=USA (3),

Dave,
USA used to assign their own VIN (different from the manufacter's original) on imported vehicles but I understand this was stopped a few years ago as it was causing confusion for many foreign manufacturers, US dealers and US owners. I therefore think the VIN decode is correct for all markets. USA still retains the rather bizarre procedure of assigning Model Year as the year the vehicle was imported or sold so there are 2015 and 2016 X150's around which had to have been built before production ended on 24th July 2014.
You will see in my forum signature that my 2014 X150 is a Signature model. This and the Dynamic R were the final run for X150 before production ended. The vehicle was advertised as a Signature, sold and invoiced as a Signature. However, when I wanted the appropriate Signature badge for it, Jaguar CRC informed me it was a Portfolio:

I then suspected that the badging names have more to with marketing than production. The Signature was sold at 10,000 UKP less than the Portfolio it superseded but it sounds like production just kept building Portfolio's regardless of what marketing was selling them as.
It is likely your 2008 Portfolio was a Convertible built to Portfolio specification. Misleading (yes), annoying (probably) but effectively you have a Portfolio and that's what matters.
