Hey guys, just had my '10 XKR in for service today (new brake fluid, radiator fluid added, belts, hoses, tensioners checked). When I went to pick it up, they were finishing putting the "underbody shields" back on. I drove home in the rain. My passenger began to complain of water dripping on his foot. Quite a bit of water. Seemed every time I hit a puddle, more water came in. Under the passenger dash/glove box area near the footwell. I attached pics for your to look at. Someone said the duckbill, so I ran the air full blast with all vents closed for several minutes. No drips. I then drove in the rain again, and the drips started. Could the shop have put the shields on wrong, and water is pouring in? I checked the cabin filter and it's dry. The drain holes near the wipers are not clogged. Ideas???? It's really bothering me.
No, that's condensation from the AC dripping into the heater box and finally getting too full to be contained.
Search for Duck Bill, there are several threads.
The Duckbill is a rubber drain in the exterior transmission tunnel area within the engine compartment, the rubber gets sticky and stiff and won't open to drain the condensate, so it backs up into the heater box.
Zero splashes from outside will enter the interior. Ever. Some people have had rain intrusion, but through doors and window seals.
So you didn't search Duck Bill in the forums then? Searching Google is also a good alternative, as it usually points back here to the same search results a Forum search would indicate.
