Water in the trunk... clogged drain plug found.

It's been raining a lot here in NJ the past few months. When I was jacking the car up last week, i heard some sloshing, and I assumed it was the gas tank. Prepping for a road trip this weekend, I went to go put air in the spare tire today. I found a good amount of water under the spare. I also noticed some orange rust color residue around the trunk and one small spot that appeared very rusty. I vacuumed out the water, dried everything out, and put a coat of wd-40 in the spare tire area. It turns out the rust was from a cheap pair of jumper cables i had sitting by the spare... freak out avoided. While cleaning up, I found that one of the rubber body plugs is actually a drain, and has a nipple at the bottom. It was completely clogged with dirt. It is located under the spare tire, center plug closest to the bumper. I cleaned it off, and cut away the lowest part of the nipple to open it a bit. I still need to figure out where the water is getting in, but at least i know it will drain now.

i would immediately suspect the rear glass; the rubber seal around the lip is probably giving up and may have cracked somewhere.
every time i wash mine there's black particulate residue just endlessly coming out of there as the rubber continues to degrade. probably the previous owner parked outside in the sun a lot.
