Jaunty, I now had the chance to investigate in real life. Bear with me if I got the text on some buttons a bit wrong, it's translation of my Danish setup.

When you add Waypoint, make sure on the screen where you Calculate, that the Show Icon for Waypoint is highlighted (light blue). When you get near enough to the waypoint, I get on top right of the screen the waypoint's name and the button Off. Pushing Off lets the navigation navigate to next waypoint or destination. It requires a bit of patience, takes 5 seconds, just wait.

If you don't get near enough to the waypoint and want to remove it anyway, there's no such button on screen. You have to do:
Menu/Options for Route/Dest+Waypoints/Delete/Point to the relevant waypoint/Yes/OK (gets you back to your route).

So, quite logical when you know :-). But it's easy to get lost in all the menus, and while driving. I'm glad you asked the question, because now I can use this function on my next trip to Italy :-)

No Quarter, thank you that is a great help. I needed to turn on the Waypoint Icon before I could do anything at the waypoint. At least, I think so. I have set it all up this way now, but have yet to drive the journey to see what it does when I get there.

This bit is even clunkier that the rest, isn't it? I wonder if that is why they were too ashamed to mention it at all in the manual.

The manual is sketchy I think. I've learned a lot about the system during summer vacations in Europe, learning by doing. And except for the size of the screen and the text, I think it's great. It's the best I've had in any car including TomTom at getting me around queues.

"My '10 XKR is a Japanese import and I was surprised to find that it had voice control. Cambo has since worked out how to enable it on cars that don't already have it."

Cambo, are you out there somewhere?

Is it possible that my 2008 XK has Voice Control? How would I find out, and turn it on if it has, please?

I can confirm your experience. It will keep pestering to you until you either go to the waypoint, or stop and cancel guidance and start a new rout to you destination.

BTW, I've done a series of YouTubes on the 2012-2014 XK navigator:

It looks like 2009MY on just need reconfiguring in SDD but 07 and 08 cars need the touch screen firmware updating.

No Quarter, thanks for your help with this. It has enabled me to use waypoints so long as I set points that I will actually pass through, which often means setting them from the map.

I now am trying to do something else, and wonder if you have had any success with this. I want to save a favourite waypoint in memory so that I can recall it and insert it into new journeys. For a lot of my journeys North-South in England I like to use an old Roman road called the Fosse Way. To force the system to take me on this route I want to memorise the northern and southern ends so I can force it to use part or all of the Fosse Way in the routes it offers me. I have done this once and it works well, but to find the ends on the map and add them as waypoints to each separate journey is very time consuming. Surely I should be able to memorise waypoints as well as destinations? The Memorise page seems to show Waypoint but it is greyed out so I cannot select it instead of selecting Destination. Any ideas, anyone?

Jaunty, hven't read or tried this, but I think the main point is that you don't decide the waypoint status when you put them in memory? It's just an address like the other, and when you later pull it from memory, that's when you decide if that address is your destination or just a waypoint.

Let me know if I'm wrong-

Ah! Yes I see what you are suggesting, and it makes sense, so you may well be right. I will give it a go and let you know.
The Sat Nav manual tells us almost nothing about Waypoints and how to use them, but I do find them useful. I find the system quite good, actually, apart from the latest maps available being so out of date.

Thanks for your help.

Hello everyone!

I am new to the XK 150 site, having previously owned a 1995 XJ6, sold a few years ago. I just bought a lovely 2012 XK 150 convertible and discovered that it has the original mapset DVDs. I found out that a newer mapset is available for the MMM2 Denso unit, a volvo part 31489539 for North America. But I have only found this on line for about $250, which seems quite steep for a mapset that is already out of date! Can anyone point me to a site where the 31489539 is available for a reasonable price, say $100 or less? Or might someone burn me a DVD??

thanks,

latestsatnav.co.uk is where I have bought updated map DVDs, I don't remember price but way below $100. Not sure if they have US maps

truth be known, I did try copying an image of my original (updated) discs, and burning to a new disc.
The process was successful. But it cannot be read at the car.
I did it as a means to have a backup.

thanks for your reply! I did check with them and they indicated that they did not have US or North American mapsets.

thanks for reply! I think that copying may be more successful from the volvo DVD, which Stuart has indicated is a one-disc setup rather than the two-disc setup that Jaguar had previously produced.

I use the maps app on my Galaxy S23. I mount the phone through the CD slot in my 2013XKR with a magnetic face and find that works for me. In my 2018 XJR 575 I use the phone through Android Auto which projects to the big screen. I have not attempted to install Android Auto in my XKR.

thanks,
You asked virtually same question in another thread yesterday, and the reply I posted there also applies here: See my Post #13:

As I previously advised, save your money and use Waze. it's far better, has current maps with real-time traffic reports, and it's free.

Since so many people are talking, I use Android Auto and Google Maps integration in both my F250 and the wife's RX. Honestly, I haven't driven my XK to anywhere I didn't already know how to get to. I'd probably use Google Maps on my phone.

thanks, I apologize for the duplicative postings. I was cruising through different threads and had not yet found the best one to post my query.

cheers,
