Default WeatherTech mats arrived - here is my review

Hello XK Aficionados -

After seeing a bazillion ads on TV and car magazines for WeatherTech mats I finally decided to get myself a set. I placed the order on Wednesday and by Saturday they arrived via FedEx. They come in a nice sturdy box with plastic wrapping around each one. I only ordered the front mats because nobody human I know can sit in the back of an XK.

There were two color options Black, Grey or Tan. I choose black because my entire interior is Tan and I wanted to give it a bit of contrast. The total cost with shipping was $109. A bargain in my opinion.

So what do I think of these mats? I think they are great. The are made out a sturdy yet flexible molded rubber that fits the contours of the foot well perfectly. They also have the holes in the right spot for the carpet hooks, hence the mats do not move nor slip out of place. The sides of the mats have a high wall so that the carpets are protected in places that a normal flat mat would never reach. I even like them better than my Jaguar floor mats.

Bottom line: this is an excellent product for any Jaguar XK, Two thumbs up!

Yep, they’re good. Bought a set almost three years ago when I first got my XK.

I had a set in my 07 but I'm not going that route at the moment on the current 12. I did like how they kept the floor cleaner (easy to vacuum). The down side, for me anyway, is how slipery they tend to be. I tried puting carpet mats on them but that only made the effect worse (something not suggested anyway).

I will say their ads are correct about how exactly they fit. Perhaps, as I drive more on rainy days, I may rethink my position on them because of ease of maintenance.

I can also heartily endorse these floor liner mats. I zip tied my jaguar carpet mats to the rear of the Weathertech mats on the raised ridge closest to the seat so I get the protection and the use of the luxury carpeted stock mats held firmly in place. If I need to remove the Jag mat, I just clip the zip ties and re install with new zip ties.

I reallly bought my Weathertechs to catch any water from the A/C in case that were to start leaking on the Pax side (Not so far)

I put my Weather Tech mats in place and several weeks later experienced the A/C drain/duckbill issue. Dirty water poured into the passenger footwell. The Weather Techs did their job, making for easy clean up with no issues. Now I've permanently fixed my A/C drain. The mats stay in place unless I'm going to a car show, where the original mats see gentle use. I have a tan interior and tan mats. The color of the of the Weather Tech mats is slightly darker than the tan (caramel) of the XK interior. I will try to remember to post pics later today.

Yes they are, but after almost three years, I just don’t notice them anymore. The best part is, that after the wife and I go for a hike, I don’t have to worry about what might be on our shoes when we get in the car.

Considering this will be my last fun car I'm not saving the mats for the next owner. As for my truck it's an easy way to clean and dump out the dirt. Somehow I don't manage to go to the same places with my car that I go to with my truck.

According to their European website they don't make them for a XK.

That’s interesting, because when I first got my car and checked the US website, three years ago, it did not list the XK, but did have XKR. A couple months later, the XK was also listed, so I drove down to the factory store near me and picked up a set.

I just went to check 'em out, now there are none for "XKR", but "XK Series" shows them as available.

Anyone looked at these mats as an alternative to the Weathertecs? I kept getting an ad for them on my Facebook feed, so I finally browsed the site. I can't decide if I like them or hate them, but the dark brown looks to be exactly the color of the "Truffle" interior in my car.

Nope - don't like the looks of those.

I do like the looks of the weathertech, and am thinking about getting some. Maybe for several of my cars.

IMO it's like wearing rubber boots with a tuxedo. I'd much rather destroy a couple sets of carpet mats before using rubber ones.

I've got a pair of Weathertechs in both of my BMW's; and they're an excellent product. However; they'll never find their way inside of either Jaguar I own.

BTW after a couple of years, they will "crush" the carpet pile and leave a more or less permanent cross hatch pattern on the OEM carpet. You can use steam to take out the patterned depressions, but the carpet will not respond completely.

Cross hatch not a big deal inasmuch as the regular carpet mats cover all that. I do remove mine every 6 months and vacum the carpets though

Yep, those'll hold some mud alright. It'd seem that the original carpets would stay perfect forever. They ARE a bit..... ugly.... though.

I bought Weather Tech mats for my BMW X3. The driver side does not fit correctly. The mat slides forward and backward so I put a spacer in front of the seat to keep it pressed forward. Dirt gets under the mat around the gas peddle. Sorry I wasted the money.

First I’ve heard of a bad fit. Did you complain to them? Does the X3 have posts/connections to hold the OEM mats in place? The WT mats should use the same posts (after you remove the OEM mats).
