1. Install new exhaust
2. Start pushing your XK more and more because of the lovely engine note it now has
3. Engine mounts decide to leave the chat
4. You get scared your torque converter is damaged because vibrations were so severe!
5. Pay another 500$ for 2 new OEM engine mounts (I wasn't able to source the 3rd one)
6. Get even more frustrated because now, with new engine mounts, you have a nasty exhaust drone noise @1200rpm

Cars are pain

Message of the day: Check your engine mounts before you do any exhaust modifications

P.S. Does anyone know what is the point of that black strap that is surrounding engine mounts?

I don't have any insights on the strap on the engine mount, but I feel for you on the idea that sometimes we don't even get to experience much enjoyment on fixing one thing before another issue creeps up. That sucks.

But you have to admit, there is a little dopamine hit of pride every time you fix something. And every thing fixed, you "feel" a difference in the car, even if you don't feel a difference. Ya feel me? 🤔😎

Sorry about the mounts. Good luck getting everything corrected.

From your picture, it looks like it holds a grey gasket in place, so it doesn’t get lost in shipping.
An old one appears in the upper right of your picture. I’d guess you remove the strap before installation.

Installed the XKR muffler on the XK. Took less than 1 hour start to finish. Much easier than I expected. No vacuum valves - the outside pipe flap is permanently open. At $225 for the muffler (used but cleaned up with a Brillo pad to the chagrin of some), and $60 for the diffuser (brand new factory Jag part), this is a great upgrade. Just enough throaty sound when you step on the gas. The only downside is this muffler has a negative impact on gas mileage. LOL. It makes you want to hear it !
If anyone wants/needs the vacuum control units, you can have them - just a few $ to cover shipping.

I also added the chrome XKR fender vents. Visually, I think it makes the car look just a little shorter and breaks up the long length of the car. Just IMHO.

Cheers.

Default Pressure, We Have Pressure!

Well actually yesterday, finished installing oil pressure and temperature sensors that I had sitting around for almost 8 years, just waiting for me to get to them. Attached to my HKS Camp2, I can now monitor these additional items.
I’ll add additional details in the old Camp2 thread, but have guests coming this weekend, so it will be sometime next week. Also, these photos were just after startup while sitting in the garage after installing them, I’ll get a chance to see what they look like while driving sometime next week.

Showing oil pressure and temperature readings, car is not warmed up yet.

This is probably what I’ll normally display, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and battery voltage.

I fixed my adaptive cruise control!

Ever since I got the car, I've had trouble with the cruise control. It would turn on okay, but then after driving for a little while, it would suddenly stop with an error sayin: The radar sensor is blocked. After that, I couldn't use the cruise control again until I restarted the car

What was the issue? These rubber grommets were perished, causing the whole unit to move around. I replaced them, tightened the screws, and now it's fixed. My adaptive function works now as well!

If your cruise control is acting up, check if the sensor is securely mounted! I was able to do it from underneath the car without taking off the front bumper.
