He did a good job on the dash.. He did a little more decorative stiching than I wanted (he offered to redo it). I’ll roll with this for a while and see how I like the suede (it matches my headliner).
$100 for materials. $120 for the upholstery work. I did the R&R on the dash. At that price it was worth it to see how it would look. I can always take it to a high end shop and have it redone in the future if needed.

Street Suede dash installed. Also had my upholsterer do the console sides in suede. It’s a nice change from the pulling / faded leather dash I had.

Having said that, the bleed/return hose connector broke off on my '10 XKR right by the engine and I did get a low coolant warning on the dashboard. I don't know how much water I lost before I pulled over though because I had the car flat bedded straight to my mechanic.

I ran my wire for my backup camera. Then I pulled the car forward in the garage with the boot open and scratched it on the shop light. Then I sulked for a couple of hours. Then I watched a bunch of internet videos about sanding out scratches. So in summary, today I succeeded in creating more work for myself.

I always thought the chrome strip blended well with the non-LED taillights, a nice bright stripe all the way across the rear end. But what you’ve done looks good too.
Since I went with the LEDs, I’ve thought that ‘broken’ line across my rear looks a little odd, so I’ll have to consider doing something like that.

I guess when the bleed hose comes off the coolant tank will be full as the water is all being pushed out through it so the low coolant light won't come on until the tank empties.

New tank is in. 3 and a bit litres of coolant went in to get it to the min marking after it burped a bit. So it didn't pump it all out. No milkshake on the dipstick and no steam out the exhaust, it seems like I got lucky.
As our Kiwi friend also experienced, it was the crappy little return hose nipple, just snapped clean off, I never touched it, just broke all on it's own while I was driving.
There is no level switch in the expansion tank, no low coolant warning on a 4.2L, seems Jag got wise and added one to the 5.0L.
There is a level sensor in the parts catalogue, the part number of the sensor (for a 5.0L) is a very old part looks like from the mid 90's, like an X300 XJ or maybe an X100.
I also was informed that the 4.2L tank has been superceded, and it's actually an F-Type part number for the new replacement version, which is a little surprising.
Been through the wiring diagrams, there was never a low-coolant sensor on the 4.2L X150, just isn't there.... nothing....
But there is one on the 5.0L X150 though it's somewhat incorrectly identified in the wiring diagrams as a brake fluid level sensor.
As there is a field in the CCF of the 4.2L cars for the coolant level sensor, I will enable it and see if it brings up the warning on the dash, if it does then i'll be looking into the wiring next. If it doesn't, then... too bad...
I'm pretty pissed about this, it never occurred to me that there was no low-coolant warning in this car. Couple that with no bloody temperature gauge, it's **** poor.
So you 5.0L guys, you will get a warning, the 4.2L guys just watch out for steam...
IF by some luck I can get the warning up by changing the CCF, i'll let you know.

The tank does appear to be the same in the workshop manual, so that ought to work.

With winter approaching, I have yesterday installed a 1mm thin black rubber mat in my driver foot well. I have ordered a few meters of black rubber mat and cut it to nicely fit onto the fix-mounted car carpet and unter the removeable foot well carpet.
The two plastic pins that hold the removeable foot well carpet in place now also fix this rubber mat.
Reason to do this: avoid winter moisture and mud on shoes to get into the fix-mounted car carpet and other foot well fittings.
Let me add a picture when I get home.
