What did you do to your X150 today?

The original has been superseded multiple times but I see 2 current parts listed, C2P18816 which appears exclusive to the 4.2 motor and C2P25607 which is listed for 5.0 and 4.2 motors...which did you come up with? I'd like to do this next week, even though I've no issues with mine, just as an inexpensive precaution.
This tells me two possibilities;
#1 the low coolant warning function is built in to the instrument cluster software and is not a feature that can be enabled or disabled. The feature may or may not be present in the 4.2L cluster.
#2 the switch function is closing the circuit to trigger the warning (which is a little counter intuitive) in which case, grounding the pin on IP032/14 would/should trigger the warning.
I found this in the 5.0L workshop manual Engine Cooling section "If the coolant level in the expansion tank decreases below a predetermined value, the level sensor connects a ground to the instrument cluster, which activates the appropriate warning. For additional information, refer to 413-01 Instrument Cluster."
When you check section 413-01, it's contradictory... "A warning message is also displayed in the message center if the coolant in the expansion tank falls below a given level. The instrument cluster is hardwired to a level switch in the expansion tank with feed and return connections. If the switch opens the instrument cluster detects the low coolant level and displays the applicable message."
So I guess it's possible, but i'd have to pull out the instrument cluster and test it, also have to try to find the right terminals for that connector...
Or get hold of a 5.0L and try unplugging the sensor, and grounding out the wire at the sensor. Actually both tests would be a good idea...
Any chance you can post up some detailed pics of the sensor, and confirm how it functions? normally closed, normally open, etc?

The attachment points for the Jaguar branded CTEK are in this PDF. As others have said, it is to do with the battery management system but in reality it does cope OK if you just wire it up to the negative terminal.

Am guessing this is the thing, but the lead doesn't look much longer than the stock one:

Thanks for the attachments, I'll see if i can get the longer leads to do it properly, will naturally look at CTEK first as am sure from Jaguar it's 4 x the price!

Which leads me to a question:
Is there no low brake sensor on the Jag? There were no pad sensors. I ask because one pad was down to bare metal, but no warning from the car.

I got them on ebay:
Of course I have a 2008, so your parts may be different.

Maybe someone else can detail to be certain though.

The sensor is almost 3-1/2 inches long.
Two pins in the wiring harness socket
Here is the tip of the sensor, looks like a wire running the full length.

There's nothing in the workshop manual to explain its operation, but it looks similar to the oil-level sensor. That is ultrasonic, so this may work the same way, i.e. bouncing ultrasonic pulses off the liquid/air boundary.

Well my battery is defo on it's way out, with 500 miles of driving with no lights on (and a hardly listened to the stereo, preferring the soundtrack of my engine!) it gave me a 'low battery' message.
So will be replacing with my spare (fully charged ) type 19 when returning home on Saturday morning, for now it's on CTEK charge and is getting as far but no further than 6. So it will take a charge but simply not hold it.
Also notice that the passenger seat backrest doesn't move as far forwards as the drivers one, it reclines fine, I don't think it's the common problem with seats but suspect just a motor that needs replacing. Any suggestions would be appreciated...in the meantime will do a few forum searches

There were none on my car. At least not attached to the shoes. I changed all four wheels.

Per the service manual, there are no wear indicators on the front or rear wheels.

Maybe it is only on 355MM brakes. I don't know if mine are 355MM or not, but there are no sensors on the pads. That I can attest to.
