Today I've been playing with rubber bumper guards. The ones I bought have carbon fiber patter. When installed (all around) kinda remindes me of some body kit

No no, just generic, found it on ebay. Just wanted to see how it looks, thought about the wind too, we'll see tomorrow 😆😆
Anyway, they are easy to remove, could just be model for a fiberglass ones one day 😁

Looks good on a black car. Not sure about lighter colors.

Was it easy to source? OEM or aftermarket?

kind of torn here always thought the stock body of the xk/r was lacking something and what you have installed is very subdue, fills the gap in very nicely and totally completes the look of the vehicle ( if you can't tell I actually really like it) however if it wasn't for the mustang having the same set up I would be installing your mod in a heartbeat

That's exactly what I was thinking about Jag. This was actaully like some sort of test, to see how will it look, one day will probably make custom fiberglass lips, there is a guy in my city that is doing custom body kits and lips for years now.
I didn't quite understood, because of how it reminds you to mustang, you won't try it?

Had an uneventful drive into the City today, parked, got out and attempted to lock the car via key-fob. Didn't lock, heh...Tried locking manually by buttons on door handle. No reaction. O/K, replaced fob battery with a fresh one, although old battery measured 3.10 volts. Still no go. Tried starting car with fob in center armrest slot - no start!!! Yikes!!! Got message: Smart Key not found. Pondering tow back to home and expen$ive vi$it to dealer. Fortunately had my tablet with the 4000-plus-page service manual so did some homework. Pulled off panel for CJB fuse panel and Keyless Control module. Reseated connector CA076 (as well as the other four) on the module, and now have control!!! Plan to get some Contact ReNu on those pins and connectors soon...Disaster avoided - for now.
Wondering how many "repairs" are done with just reseating / resetting modules...

What do you mean by reseating / resetting modules?

My take on it was that he wiggled the unit about so that the connectors 'reseated' themselves in any slots etc. I figured they had somehow worked loose over time and weren't making a good contact anymore, hence his problem.

It's a useful bit of info IMO as it is a) relatively easy to try, b) free (if it works), c) could apply to many more similar modules and d) even I could do it.

Thank you for that explanation, thought there was maybe some diagnostics routine here or something- all makes sense to me know. Have a problem atm that may require some of the same

He was fortunate to have his tablet with him and the workshop manual on it. I have access to my copy of the manual in my Dropbox, but reading it on my phone would be painful, if it was even possible. And at 4,000 pages I haven't even considered printing it out - and you need to be able to search to by keyword anyway, so it's less useful in a non-electronic format.

If all these terminals had the right dielectric grease then there is no problem. Im slowly working through mine because as these connections get older and more unreliable

"What do you mean by reseating / resetting modules?"

As others have said, basically just unplugging and reinstating plug. Guess the pins get tarnish on them, or some dielectric action with the connector, dunno.
Reinsertion wipes the contacts, making a clean contact. I've used Contact ReNu, but like the idea of a non-conductive grease. Telco linemen use splices with a dot of silicon fluid in them to prevent intermittent splices.

I ALMOST had a bad day...
Took the XKR to the emissions testing station, everything passed fine. I got back into the car and totally Black Touch Screen. Shut off engine, closed doors, locked and unlocked car and tried again. Black Touch Screen! DAMMIT!!!

Well, I got home and kept thinking "Battery. Battery. Battery." like I should think. I hooked up the charger.... "FULL BATTERY".
YAY!!!! <---sarcasm, should be 'dammit again'. (had just got back from a 100 mile round-trip, so actually no surprise)

Did a hard reset, and waddayano..... All is well in Jag Country.
So now the registration is good for another year and I still have a TSD.
