With my normal summer temps of 95-105F, I'll not use 0W-30, I'll stick with the 5W blend at least. Maybe even 10W dependent on season of projected oil changes.

there's some kind of ring-shaped foam insert in there, right? i think i found bits of mine on the garage floor the other day.

Or you can just go here to find an ethanol station near you (US and Canada)

In WI, the city I travel to occasionally is listed, but the last time I checked, they no longer carry premium, just lower octane choices.

Definitely don't want to start an "oil thread" lo l, but I've been more concerned with having 30w in my 5 litre engine, I think I'm happy with 5w cold in Australian temps too.

today i uninstalled the muffler to see what an XK sounds like without one, and drove it around a bit.
ohh, it's good. it's very very good. startup and one delicate rev to 3k with letoff: https://streamable.com/rt0jzt

i'm having a shop do a custom drop-in replacement for the stock muffler. told them i'd get around to taking it out to hear how it sounds, and then let him know from there. i went right back today with it still off and said just a couple glasspacks please! it just needs a little bit for those extra loud pops in sport/dynamic. shopping for another stock XK muffler now so that i can keep the tips and clamps exactly the same.

Hard reset with battery charger pigtail installation
Removed an in-vehicle battery maintainer that the previous owner had mounted above the navigation unit in the boot. This arrangement worked fine for topping up the battery but didn’t seem like a great idea should the maintainer have an electrical problem. Measured the unloaded battery voltage at 12.7 VDC 👍
I did a hard reset by touching the + and ground main battery cables together before installing a new battery charger pigtail for the external maintainer. Only resets needed on the car were the emergency brake per the dash message and the clock. Went for a nice morning test drive and found the transmission up and down shifts seemed smoother than before. I had also had a bit of a short shift from first to second when starting off which is gone now.
Life is good!😎

From the electrical training manual:NOTE: A hard reset does not repair a fault condition. It simply brings all control modules back to their baseline condition. If a hard reset eliminates the symptoms, then further diagnosis is needed to determine the cause of the conditions, i.e. low battery causing a single control mod- ule to come off line temporarily.
Hard Reset Instructions
A ‘hard reset’ restores the control modules to their base conditions assuring that network communications are synchronized.
CAUTION:
Be sure to retrieve DTCs before disconnecting the battery.
All Vehicles except X105, X150
- Disconnect the negative cable of the battery for at least 120 seconds
- Reconnect the battery negative cable
- Perform window initialization
X105, X150 Vehicles
Due to the window drop entry feature, the following pro- cedure should be followed to prevent door seal damage.
- Open one window fully or open a door
- Disconnect the negative cable of the battery for at least 120 seconds
- Reconnect the battery negative cable
- Reset the window position memory for the passenger and driver door windows
NOTE: If a hard reset is performed on a vehicle with a sunroof / roof opening panel and the roof is open at the time of the hard reset, the sunroof initialization proce- dure must be performed.

Quite simple actually. Our system has multiple modules and multiple capacitors. Holding the cables together allows to capacitors to discharge, thereby resetting.

Q 1. How long do you hold the wires together
Q2. Is it a big sparks show?
