I had my ‘09 XK detailed, paint correction and ceramic coated...very pleased with the result...swirls & scratches gone and the finish has never looked so good. Thanks to Kendig Auto Detailing in Gap, PA.
I didn't do THOSE fancy lights, but I did just install these fancy mirror signal lights I got from eBay... someone else posted them also which is why I bought them:
They are also black instead of clear lenses over chrome, so that's also a benefit! https://www.ebay.com/itm/38410544092...53.m2749.l2649
CeeJay, did you have to remove the door panels, or could you install them directly via the mirror assembly?
Also, was the wire & plug accessable in the mirror?
Thanks! Panthera

I finally got around to changing out the power steering fluid using the turkey baster method. I'm guessing the previous owner had changed it relatively recently since the fluid wasn't very dirty, but I did it for the peace of mind. For reference, I used Mobil ATF 320 (part # C2P10363) based on another post here.

I just now realized that I (we) could use the oil extractor pumps that us 5.0 owners use already to remove a large portion of the power steering fluid.
I shall now use this same method to remove a fewl quarts of transmission fluid from my motorhome which is about to hit 60,000 miles and replace with new. (older vehicles hate pan drop fluid changes)
Xk finally got the death rattle , whist yes it's driven hard it is extremely well maintained with oil changes every 5-7k km ..starting to question the recommended oil specs will definitely pushing up to at least a 10w40 once I've done the chains
Another interesting note is the kit is compatible with the vantage , considering the camspecs are different (along with many other components) I would have thought they would have ran with a entirely different set-up hmmm Haha popcorn also include in the kit !

I don't recall 4.2 oil spec - 5w30 or 5w20?
Frankly - that sort of changes can cause exact same amount of good and bad things to the car. I believe they built it really tight (at least talking about 5.0 which needs 0w20 or 5w20). Putting a thick oil can cause some problems. I would still stick to a recommend spec. But I'm not too legit. Changing oil way too often...
Yeah, changing oil specs used to be a thing, but now with engines having tighter specs and a lot more tiny holes with oil that does a lot more than lubricate, stay with the recommended oil!
Question guys how loose are the clearances on the aj37 compared to the rest of the ajj series they run with a 10w60 .
0w20 5w30w are fantastic for reducing fuel milage however offer minimal coverage & premature wear.
Tmich I don't think oil changes too often would destroy a engine that's blizzare and based on nothing the car is driven hard and oil breaks down/ deteerates hence why the frequently of chsnges oil will also lose its original viscosity rating acting like a thinner variety as well

I don’t believe the tolerances of the 4.2 are as strict as the new gen 5 & 3 litre motors. I know you can use race oil in the former with no issue. The 0 spec for the newer motors was only for those exposed to freezing climes, 5w20’s
the correct spec for everywhere else.

Heard from a reputable member that he actually recommends using 0w20 anytime, due to higher viscosity of this oil. Don't have my opinion. I use 5w20, but will be migrating to 0w20 when finish current stock.
Call me crazy…. but I believe I can hear the difference.
Shop made the “mistake” of putting in conventional 10W30. I started her. Turned her off. Went promptly back inside to demand another change.
In he summer I like to run synthetic 5W30 anything else doesn’t sound right.
When it gets cooler (5C or less) use 0W30. And it may not matter but what’s a few bucks…. I always change the filter and replace the magnetic plug.
In anticipation of the topic…. heading to the yacht club in my polished girl…. time to get some wax on the boat, lol.

Got to meet Roger Cavling for the first time as he came by my house.
Very nice chap and a very good looking car! He has a 5.0xkr, done some nice modifications to it. He has a smaller pulley on the SC and we went for a spin with me behind the steering wheel.
Let me just say,OMG!!
Damn it was fast, never driven a car with around 550hp! My car will be of the road a couple of days til I've forgotten how fast his was!
He did warn me it can get expensive and he was right, I WANT ONE!
Thanks for the visit Roger and next time I'll let you drive mine!
