I still haven't programmed mine. I have one of those fancy Genie door openers (opener is on the spindle directly - a jake setup?). I can't tell you how many times I have bricked that baby trying to program it to my wife's newer Toyota.
This is the procedure I used on my Range Rover and both the XK's. It has the additional step I mentioned but you really need a helper to hit the learn button on the actual garage door opener. None of our cars would learn via the remote method and this was the only method that worked. I have a Sommer Garage door opener with rubber rollerblade style wheels on the tracks. Dead silent and lifetime warranty from Sommer....no questions asked. About $275 on Amazon for the whole set up including the wheels for the tracks. Hope this helps.
installed new sidelight and indicator bulbs in front lamps
new thermostat and housing to cure P0128 code (rubber had split on thermostat it turned out)
new cabin filter
new number plates
cleaned radio aerial and lubricated with plusgas
No photos today, because I think everyone has seen the ins and outs of battery replacement and it's nothing special, but I do have two amazing and unlikely facts to report.
I've noticed for the past week that starting the engine bogged down more than usual, but it's been cold, so I didn't think too much of it -- until it refused to start at all. Luckily it started on the second try and I got home. Things seem normal for a bit, it starts and drives fine once or twice daily, but I know it's time to check and probably replace the battery. So, about a week later, out comes the trunk trim and then I leave the car alone for 30 minutes without unhooking anything yet.
What does my multimeter read for voltage across the battery posts? Amazing and unlikely fact number one: a stunning 11.6V -- how in God's name did this car start just the day before? Was it really up around 12.6 to 12.8 after I parked it up the night before, then drain all that way down just in those 30 minutes? Maybe, I guess. Curious.
But what about the second fact, you ask? The brand new battery off the shelf at O'Reilly's reads 12.8V, hah! Now that's really unbelievable, that one. I was all ready to charge it overnight if I had to.
My car roars to life now, I've never heard it this good. I must have had a dying battery to begin with.

Earlier in the week I did a full brake job on the wifes XK including rotors. Had to rent a caliper tool for the rears. Not that bad of a job and she was impressed. My XK is sitting at the airport collecting dust for the next week or so.
Full service - Spark plugs, oil & filter, air filters, pollen filter, supercharger belt & aux belt
Replacement rear wheel bearing
4 x New Shocks
Replaced both upper wishbones
Replaced both lower wishbones
I think that is the full list of work completed, next job is to get the diff oil changed.
No, just faded and dingy with a few small spots here and there. I could’ve given them a coat of paint for a lot less but powder’s quite durable and looks fantastic, even if they can’t be seen.
Was cleaning the car before my daughter took her out and discovered it had been keyed all up and down the passenger side. I don't get people.
Really sorry for you, man...I don't get a-holes like that who feel a need to harm people's stuff...their lives must really suck.
Hope your insurance will cover it all and that your big cat will look even better after it's taken care of!
Went for a spirited country road test drive with the new Pilot Sport 4 S’. I changed up the rear sizing to 295/30-20 and wanted a feel for it.
Temperature was 8C and it was pouring rain. Some standing water and the roads not swept yet. (winter debris).
I have never enjoyed the amount of grip in those conditions, before. The windy roads I prefer provided all kinds of entertainment.
But the car is a muddy mess… guess I’ll be spending my Saturday watching the F1 quali while cleaning up the car.
