Where did you get the rim repaired? The previous owner must have ran the stock 30psi tyre pressure and I notice there is a small dent in the inner rim of the rear rim that I like to get sorted.

I turned it out myself then had it balanced .

Virgin wheel repairs In Sydney are very good but pricey

I like to run 240- 250kpa for my tyres

I went to my independent shop to have a check up in preparation for a road trip to Pinehurst, NC. No issues and he disabled my TPMS using Autologic. Thankfully, I won’t have to see those false warnings anymore…

Unhappy

Had to have a major brake repair, the brake booster failed. Pedal could be depressed but would stay down. braking was actually good, too good. Sometimes you could lightly touch the brake and it felt like you were doing a panic stop. People behind me would follow suit. So I had to order the booster, was on back order, took 2.5 weeks to arrive from UK. When the work was being performed by my Indie, the mechanic noticed the old booster was 1/2 full of brake fluid, which had been leaking out of the master cylinder. So now I had to get a new master cylinder too. Cost was outlandish but I have a new brake system that works fine now. I also got new rotors and pads installed.

Happy to hear you got it all squared away... I'm always worried to do any big jobs on the XK since the local dealer here is usually not very accommodating. Local indie shops are hit or miss. I see you're in NY... you have a local indie that works on these cars and isn't out to use you as an ATM ? I'm over in LI myself...

You might try Check Point Auto, they are on Conklin Rd in Farmingdale. West of Rte 110. Aak for Nick (owner) or Bobby (Manager) I have been taking my
XK to him since the warranty ended. Nick owns several exotics and takes care of all. Porsche, Aston, RH drive Toyo Supra '89 just to name a few. I have seen them fix late model BMW, Merc, Porsche, VW, Audi, LR, Viper.

Are you a member of the LI Jag club, JDCLI.com? They have list of other Indies and some discounts at the dealer too. We should exchange info, PM me if you want to.

Default A/C Duckbill checked and lubed

Today, I followed Gr8Brit's procedure to come in from the top of the car and lube the duckbill drain with spray silicone. Although, I had to also remove the Intake "y" Resonator on top of the throttle body (4.2 S/C) to give a few more inches of clearance as my arms were just a bit short. Once done I had just enough reach to check out the duckbill and found out it had been sliced on one side. I lubed it up with the spray silicone and could get about 1/2" of my finger in it to make sure it was open.

Fortunately, I knew from the CARFAX history of this car that the PO had taken it to an Indy shop (not Jaguar) for this issue about 3 years ago and they had removed the trans to perform the repair. I assume they are the ones who sliced the duckbill.

Thanks again to Gr8Brit for posting his procedure years ago. It still comes in handy and saves a good amount of cash and frustration.

Well, nothing special today, besides driving it to the office...but this weekend I did both the glove box damper fix (one of the previous owners had fixed it already, but the plastic arm where the screw was attached had broken off...) on Saturday and the duckbillectomy on Sunday. Both a PITA, but now it's done. Didn't manage to properly cut off the duckbill but it's been severed sufficiently to do the job. And my kitty now pees where it should, i.e. underneath it, not in the passenger footwell.

But now the airbag warning light is turning on and stays on shortly after startup...

PS: this forum definitely needs a "facepalm" smiley...which I would then have used above...

Ambitious! Good job!
Our house always has some issue (mostly minor) popping up. Fix one and see two more. 🤦‍♂️

No wonder our kitties depreciate this much...

I can't see the smiley you used among those available on the forum...anyway, thanks for the props.

Well last weekend I tackled some needed maintenance items, I replaced the rear differential oil and did a complete transmission service with the mechatronics sleeves, I'm glad I did it and saved $$$ but not a fun job working with only jack stands, Thanks to all the DIYs on the site.

Replaced the engine air cleaners and cleaned the MAFs. Changed the cabin filter. Filters had the jag logo on them, I suspect they had never been changed. Existing MAFs are FoMoCo parts.
Checked the front brakes, looked good! Front lug nuts had rubber sections in them? What for?

Default growler looking in wrong direction

Picked up a fast leak in a rear tire, determined that the spare needed to be used to get to Discount Tires (25 mile trip one way)…wow the tire/wheel bounced so bad that 40 mph was the max I could drive, so no issue with overheating the space saver spare.

Had all four balanced along with the repair, the car feels a bit better now, the tires only have @ 4K on them. Got home and saw that I now need to pull all four wheels and realign my center caps so the growler points to my valve stem.

It’s the little things you know!
