Was over the fact of constantly cleaning the carbon deposits off the chrome exhaust tips and for me the chrome stood out way too much, so I went with a satin black not only the tips but entire rear box (as from some angles the box was still visible in silver)
Unsure how this would look on other coloured vehicles however on a black car it compliments it.
Got my fob cover in the mail today. Hated the cheap feel of the fob and it already had some chipping on the "chrome". For $12 on amazon I'm really happy with it. No issue pushing the buttons.
Re-installed my intermediate x-pipe today , whilst the sound is completely different from a muscle car sound (stock) to now a high pitched flat planed crank sound (x-pipe) I was extremely surprised to see the decibel reading actually drop by 1-2db @idle and 1db @WOT after the installation.
Are you sure you don’t have those numbers reversed Steve? Just seems odd to have that result. Also, your stock XK came with twin resonators? Thought the XK had one and the /R had two.
Numbers are correct KJ I was completely shocked as well thought it would have been a few db louder with x-pipe however it's a totally different high pitched sound so it might appear to seem louder to the naked ear.
Yep my xk came with one resonator , mine was butcher by first exhaust shop and couldn't get my hands on another xk intermediate pipe here in Oz as we have more xkr available I got one of them instead as a back up .

I stumbled across this video when researching exhaust options for my Virage. It compares standard, x-pipe and h-pipes on a DB9 and they came to the same conclusion. I was also a little disappointed when I added the XKR-S x-pipe to my '10 as I expected more noise but it mainly just affected the pitch.
Street Suede dash installed. Also had my upholsterer do the console sides in suede. It’s a nice change from the pulling / faded leather dash I had.
He did a good job on the dash.. He did a little more decorative stiching than I wanted (he offered to redo it). I’ll roll with this for a while and see how I like the suede (it matches my headliner).
$100 for materials. $120 for the upholstery work. I did the R&R on the dash. At that price it was worth it to see how it would look. I can always take it to a high end shop and have it redone in the future if needed.

I know this is an old post but, I think that looks incredibly good! Congrats!
I just changed my oil!!! Again. Oh, and the filter of course. What a debacle that was though..... I couldn't find my filter wrench so I had to go buy one........ NOBODY within 10 miles even had the right size. I had to order it. That took four hours to arrive.
Well, at least it's done.
AND I only had to try three times to reset the Maintenance Reminder!!!
Castrol Edge and WIX, if anyone cares.
I also couldn't find any filter wrenches of the right size at local stores. At the recommendation of someone else on the forums here, I ordered this from Amazon, and I love it. The craftsmanship is impeccable, the design is wonderful, and it fits perfectly. Paired with my impact driver, it effortlessly removed the filter and also easily reinstalled it.

I also had to search when I first needed a filter wrench as 'normal' places didn't have the right size. I finally ended up ordering from a NAPA and got it a few hours later. And whattaya know, it was the right size but was still loose enough to slip. I wrapped some heavy plastic around the housing and it worked well enough to be used.
Maybe I'll mill a good one out of a block of aluminum.
Really no benefit in the 4.2 xkr as the supercharger will max boost long before the 7400rpm but on the n/a version it picked up 2mph and .2 e.t on the 1/4 mile
