Hi guys what are the brakes on my 08 xkr as when i bought it used last year and they put new brakes pads rotors on before i took ownership. The service guy said that i had the Alcon brakes and i wanted cross drilled rotors yet he said i dont get the crossed drilled as they were only replacing as they were new. All i can read is the Alcon brakes came on the portfolio? Can anyone explain if there was a brake option on a stock 08 xkr or not. Thanks

Alcon brakes were optional on 2008 and 2009 XKR Portfolio Edition models. Alcon rotors are easily identified by their unique crescent-shaped grooves. Here's a picture of my 2009 Portfolio's front wheel:

Thanks Stuart I hate when the actual service guys dont know what is going on? Your car must stop on a dime as my stock brakes are better than my previous M3 and M5 ....

 

The Alcon brake package was not limited to the Portfolio edition. Mine were a $5000.00 dollar option that included 20" Senta Rims (a must for the brakes to fit). So getting the big brake package and rim upgrade was a nicely priced option.

The Alcon package in 2008 included 6 piston front, 4 piston rear and a separate parking brake caliper (2 calipers on the rear wheels) plus the crescent cut larger rotors.

These are items I will choose to replace with OEM from Jaguar when needed.
