What Oil Filter to use ??
When we boughtour Jag (2007 XK) The service manager said "take it anywhere for an oil change (eg Jiffy Lube types) but do ensure you get them to install a genuine Jag Oil Filter" He went on to explain that the typical replacements are not the same micron as the original Jag (which presumably is made by someone like Fram anyway?) and suggested therefore I always purchase the filter from teh dealer and take it with me to the oil change place
While I am sure there are lots of opinions (from dont worry to dont consider anything else) can someone point to facts eg what Micron is the Jag Filter, what is an EXACT replacement etc. Thanks
Also any good opinions on oil (synthetic or not?) would also be appreciated. I have never had an aluminium engine.
Edit: Internet Search of Auto Parts Warehouse gives me:
Bosch W0133-1639479 $4.95
K&N K33HP1014 $12.43
Mann W0133-1630239 $17.95
Jaguar OE W0133-1630239 $20.95
Coopers W0133-1655966 $19.95
Does this mean the Jag OEM is made by Mann. How do I findand evaluate the specs of these different filters?

RE: What Oil Filter to use ??
You will get lots of opinions on this. First, not using the OE filter does not void your warranty!!!!!
Most important thing, change your oil regularly. You could just put a roll of toilet paper in there if you keep up with your oil changes. There is no magic oil filter that will let you drive until kingdom come without changing it.
I'm sure some engineer out there will talk about this micron and that micron. Just change the oil and you will be more than fine.
(I always wanted to be an engineer. I love the hats! Choo-choo!)
