Given the pump isn't a slab of alloy bolted to the block, when one goes, what exactly is going? If it's the bearing, there's a handful of reasons and if they're not addressed the replacement will
go as well. The impeller? The gasket? There's not a lot to go wrong here. How many who have replaced their pumps have checked the belt tension with a tension gauge? Quickest way to kill
a bearing, especially one with a narrow band of forgiveness is with excessive lateral force. Or the bearing is under spec and any replacement should include an upgrade. That is if it's bearing
failure due to excessive tension. Maybe the seal is inadequate, or the shaft hardening is not deep enough, or...? My point being we know this a beast that keeps scratching at our door, seems
like it might be worth the effort to figure out the why.

What is different about their pump? I'd love to know what weakness(es) they discovered and improved on? I used to do this all the time with my old Harleys, fixing
factory shortcomings, but I had to know why stuff broke before I could make it so it didn't. My old 6 series' pump went out at 110, but the head gasket was shot at 80K, and was common knowledge they all failed before 100K. Never could figure out exactly why, at least with any certainty.

 

I guess all MY stuff is just BETTER than yours.
