What is your other car?

2013 VW Touareg V6 FSI Exec with tow package. Love it, love it, love it. Traded in my 2004 Touareg for it after 130,000 miles so I'm now a 2 Touareg owner. Great gas mileage, smooth ride, will go over any terrain (won the Dakaar Rally a couple of times I believe), luxury interior comforts, handles snow and slush like a champ, tow hitch is rated at 7600 lbs, no end to what you can stuff in the back, electronics are state-of-the-art... can't say enough good things about it.

Right on the verge of picking up a Tesla Model S with the performance plus package. The perf. package is supposed to make the car handle amazingly and is (somehow) more comfortable than the 'standard' setup.
I have logistical issues to confront (e.g. no garage), but I need a car that'll pack in 5 and the numbers on the Tesla are just crazy. I live close to their HQ, FWIW.
The main temptation to wait and buy a Tesla in a year or two is that by then they'll probably have a sedan with AWD. Can you imagine what that 0-60 run would look like? Or the feel of that much G with... no engine noise whatsoever.
Times they are 'a changin'...
Anyone have any thoughts on the Tesla?

I had a good trade in but I am kind of wandering why now...yesterday driving the xkr i was at a low regime, not accelerating from 4rth to 5 th gear the car was tail happy ( with 500 km pirelli P zero) ...not sure if finally the front end is well fixed, not sure the consequences of driving 8000 km with a bad geometrie...i had that on this 2007 facelift and it turned out to be real bad, on top of all, I pass for a person not nice at jaguar...lol..
I guess the 24 hours Lemans is over for you, you won't bring it back, you can create new cars every year for the asian market but you can't hardly
satisfy all your buyers. You are in a run to create new spectacular cars but down on the road the service is one of the worst, I guess the dealership at Jaguars mistaken themselves for somebody else..they often act like if they own your own car, i meant their attitude, it is very snobbish and not adequate. Those dealership are very cold indeed. Sorry to say so. I have concerned the paint problem i got in the rear (which is major, acid issue ) do not come from my personal use. I also noticed the gearbox is taping when i release my foot, which was not present before...it may have been abused, yes.
I bought this last car as the trade was good but i am telling you even if there is only 4 xkr on sale in the country i bought it, i know i will have to ask 8 or 10 thousands less to sell it within a decent time. I do not believe in cars anymore and i also lost the pleasure to drive them with all the service problems i faced. I know jaguar UK do not care a nail of my problems i got in the past...it is also why.
I will be looking at changing of country before to change of car, and then i guess any decent cars will do it.
Thanks for bringing the touareg infos...
Re the F type it will be competitive at 35-45 k but at 95 i found it ugly, small, pretentious, i don't like the rear. etc...
One day you got your car back with 2.5 of tire pressure in all 4 wheels, another day you got it back with 2 of pressure with all 4 wheels, never like jaguar said, 2.5 rear and 2.3 front...you know why cause the dealership knows better than jaguar who built the car...lol...on top there is not one gas station where the air works well, you got speed limits and controls from these criminals in uniforms (nowdays the enemy number one of the people) , i just don't see the point anymore...
I am not confused about tata etc, not trying to segregate, I am concerned at dilution of responsability and informations. but maybe 5 person like Ryan Lothar52 or 10 like him were enough to keep the brand in UK...see the deal he is getting to encourage the brand, I bet you in 3 months jaguar won't have send a tecnician, ( I should say a ghost tecnician that may appear on week 54 of the year?) or for Halloween?

Our other car is a 2005 Range Rover HSE loaded to the max. Nice car, but there's always something to fix. Not, break down stranded fixes, but small things. Really beautiful car though. Since this picture, we've changed the grill to a Supercharged style and have an additional set of OEM 19's with Michelin Lattitude tires.

A baby Skoda Fabia vRS that's a pocket rocket. Only 1.4, but with turbo and supercharger putting out 177 bhp and a 7-speed DSG gearbox, so it does 0-60 in 7 secs. Looks like a shopping trolley, goes like the clappers, handles like a rally car. And more practical to park in London than the XKR.
This isn't ours, but it's similar:

This 1995 Lexus SC300 is the 3rd car in a two person family. My wife has her 2005 Ford Tbird, but we both use this car. It was purchased new in 1995 and has 57,000 miles. Since it is such a great car we have never had the heart to get rid of it even-though we have had cash offers (not trade-in ones) when we take in in for service at the local Lexus dealer from front office employees to people that work in the shop. I know many people on this site can't understand why we would keep such an old car that does not have a lot of the latest technology, but the quality, reliability and design plus it does not have any high-tech electronic gremlins are some of the reasons. That and it has a sweet in-line 6 cylinder engine (also used in the NA Supra of that era) that is capable of over 140 mph.

In addition to my beloved 2011 XKR 175, I have a 2009 Porsche Cayenne GTS (a rare 6-speed manual) and a highly modified 2012 FIAT 500 Abarth. I'm shopping for the Cayenne's replacement, but haven't found "the one" yet. I don't necessarily need an SUV, but do want something with a decent cargo space. Current frontrunners are Tesla Model S P85+, Audi S7/RS7, Mercedes E63-S AMG Wagon, or maybe a new Cayenne GTS or diesel. If the Tesla had better interior materials and AWD, they would already have my business.

My other vehicles. The 70 MGB GT has been in the family since I was 4 (1972). The red RRS & 07 XK are my mom's. She was nice enough to let me store the GT there for a "few" years while I worked on several other MG's. It can now be seen covered in my garage behind the Discovery. It's my current long term classic project now that my other MG's have been sold.

How do you like the Abarth? I wanted to get one instead of our Range Rover, but the better half thought otherwise...

2009 SL550, 2007 XK, 2000 Chevy Venture (rated one of the least safe vehicles by ?? some alphabet agency).
SL's are great cars. Ventures carry lots of cargo if you remove All the non essential seats. The 4.2 litre XK gets great gas milage b/t Tx and upper Ca and runs like a train in the 80 mph range for 23 plus a bit, hours at a time. It should have come with a bigger gas tank (18.8) unlike the SL's 23 gal tank.

The Abarth is a blast and gloriously LOUD. It's one of the few city cars that has a lot of personality. I've boosted the power to 200 hp (from 160) and added a bunch of equipment from the 695 Tributo Ferrari edition that isn't offered in the US. At 18,000 miles, it still very solid and reliable. Definitely not like FIATs of yore!

As per the signature, I've got an 2005.5 Audi S4 (wife's DD) and a 1997 993 Cabriolet.
I've been debating replacing the S4 with something with more cargo space, but really cannot come to a conclusion. The Touareg TDI is very nice and high on the list. However, I'm waiting to see what the S7 is like along with the 2014-15 RR.
